I was wondering if anyone knew of any youth sized flintlocks that are made. I'd like to get my nephew started in the sport if I can find one that's not too big for him. He shot mine last year even though it was way too big of a rifle for him and he loved the smoke. ;D
I know Traditions made a carbine model that was pretty small. Do they still make that? Or does any other manufacturer make a similar small rifle like that?

The deer stalker is a smaller flintlock and a darn good one too.

I would also say the deer stalker would be a good option. My son loves it also and he shoots my 50 Cal hawkens and shots it very well. This year we will test his skill! LOL

Dixie Gun Works offered a Cub Cadet model in .45 cal. It was made by Pederosoli. I'm not sure if it is still available.
I bought it as a kit, did some style changing and up-grades, and presented it to my grandson when he turned 12. It is a shooter, and now he has out-grown it, and we hope his sister will enjoy shooting and hunting with it.

There are still some Thompson Center 50 cal PA Hunter Carbine Rifle's out there if you keep a lookout. Would be a fine gun for a youngin.
