Anybody finding an yet? My son found a few but only took pics of them. They were in a park and he thought it might be illegal for him to take them. I took a three hour hike thinking I 'd find some-no luck. I did find a couple pounds of Chants and a small lions mane.

It's so darn dry here the 'shrooming has been pretty disappointing...until Wednesday when coming back from run to pick up my door thresholds at a private mill in Sullivan county, and diverted myself to a comfortable back way home:)...and glanced in the passenger side rear view and saw white Sliced about 15 pounds of premium condition Oysters from one small ailing black cherry tree about 40 feet off the road. Hate to admit it but I'm getting about sick of them Breakfast, lunch, and dinner..and late night snack will do that to a feller. Had a friend once find the biggest sheepshead I've ever seen. Looked like a full grown sheepdog sitting on his jeep seat He graciously gave me a full third of it. He called a couple days later to tell me they had them 'featured' at Wegman's grocery for 15.95 a pound. He asked me if I knew what that meant. Said, 'yep..since I saw you last I've eaten 350$ worth of mushrooms."

Yes it has been a poor dry year. Best find I ever had was on a chestnut stump, on the backside of highland lake manor that sucker was worth over a grand by wegmans standards....

Since last posted here..I have found two very large sheepshead. The second, MUCH larger than the first. It filled one rectangular dish pan full, sticking approx. 12" out the top, and a second a tad more than level full. Best news, since they reportedly don't exhaust their medium and return year after year, is this one was about 60' off the back deck Must admit..I'm about mushroomed out Burp.

Jeepers... I tried to spell Sh!take, and it blanked it out. HAHA

Fleroo, gotta ahare this one with you. One of my brothers in law was in the grocery store with the family in the OBX, If he's ever eaten any fruit or vegetable other than either a potato or a cob of corn...nobody could prove it. Meat, taters..and not a whole lot else. Walking through the produce section he said, "Why would anyone eat a mushroom called a 'sh&&-cake' ". Nope, he doesn't read real well, or much, either Does sleep a lot though...
