Hello everyone .... Into feathered friends ...pheasants ....quail ...chukar ....newest venture is homing pigeons. Enjoy being outside and working outside. No matter what season or time of the year (-25 wind chill shortens my thoughts a little bit) I been bouncing around the forums some ......catch ya there  |

Welcome from another former "bird man."
I race birds for some years, (1960's and early 70's), in my early days and actually paid for my son's hospital bill when born with race money from a 1,000 mile combine race.
I raced out of Long Beach and Compton, CA....mainly Beckerts, herman-ameel crosses and stasserts.
Haven't raised a bird in 40 years but I sure enjoyed them.

Haven't raised a bird in 40 years but I sure enjoyed them. still learning alot about pigeons ....I know I have spashes and barred grey, figured out how to sex them. Farest mine were flown was from Tennenese and back to PA (I didn't fly them, but my pigeons came from the parent group) ....I keep them under flight net right now and finally got a pigeon coop built, which they refuse to go in so far (got to put a window in it for more light) ...otherwise my pigeons got the life of riley...eat and poop. |
