Found some apple trees on our sportsmans club that have been neglected and forgotten about.
I used a chain saw to cut off the multiflora rose around them. Pulled the multiflora out of the branches and hauled it away. I have cleared 4 trees so far, and have a couple more to do. These are such an asset, yet it takes volunteer time to keep after them. I'm sure the deer will appreciate them this fall.
There are so many of these neglected trees throughout our state and each year we continue to lose this valuable resource.

If you keep a small can of round up with you, when you cut those rose bushes off and paint a bit of round up on the stump it will kill the roots and save you doing them again to soon.
last year was a bumper crop for apples here but the early snows cost me several nice trees.

Yes I normally do the Roundup thing, but figured this time of year the sap is pushing up, so may not have been effective.
I hit a bunch of MF yesterday with RU and 2,4,D. mixed strong.
Later, I'll go back and hit the areas where I cut the MF with RU to keep it down.
I also have some trees on our dam breast that need cut down and the RU on the stumps will be done. I also used drill and kill on others before we cut them down.

Anything made of copper will kill the tree and make the stump disappear faster.

Cleaned out 2 more apple trees today. The one was covered with multiflora and other vines growing up from the low hanging branches.
Cut off the MF, pulled it out of the tree and cut off the low branches to prevent it from happening again.
It got very hot, very fast today. Glad I had a Doctor appt. to stop me from going any further. LOL

I like MF as much as apple trees. It holds tons of deer.

I like MF as much as apple trees. It holds tons of deer. Well, yes, to an extent, but it will also kill apple trees or at the very least, make them less productive. The apple I released today did not even look like one, except there were a few blossoms on it. Once I was done, it was an apple again. I planted 3 apple trees close by this one the other year and never knew it was there. Next year it should be a good one.
