Last year me and my buddies damned up the swamp that flows into our lake to create a wetland. Well our damn was in need of a little repair so me like a dummy thought I could walk on water with an excavator. Took us 4 hrs to get it out with a backhoe, tractor, and wrecker. What a nightmare! No, It's from work. No damage done but it took me a couple hrs. to hose all the mud out of it! I was a bit nervous, stuck below a dam with heavy rain on the way.

Yep, I've got the letter. We got permission to to replace the beaver dam that blew out a few years back. The Dep requested a photo of the area and a brief description of what we where planning to build. I was surprised that we even got a response. We built a damn out of large boulders and with a little help from the beavers we've damned up the whole valley again. We got a few duck and goose hunters at the club that love this swamp. We planted wild rice earlier in the year and the birds are all over it. Our wood duck boxes all had eggs in them this year as well.
I was trying to get to the culverts that go under our road when I got stuck. It's clogged with mud and logs from all this dang rain!

Wow! You guys are really doing some interesting work out there. The wetlands are used by many different species. Your club should be commended for the work they have done.

I normally don't work on the project, but happened to have the machine out there over the weekend. One member is an avid duck hunter. He took it upon himself to build the damn. It's withstood some nasty floods already. He hauled large stones from various places and hand stacked them. I'll take a picture of it next weekend.
