What's the earliest you've ever planted a fall plot? The last few years my little plot has been planted around the beginning of September. I'd like to get a little more growth in it this year.

In Potter, I usually planted brassicas the third week of July.
I've found that is now to early, as I have better soil conditions now and I pour the urea on.
I'm going to do the first week in August this year, and more towards the end of the week. I think that will be better timing.
If I was doing a cereal grain, a little later would be better

I've planted brassicas from late July to mid-August with similar results in Armstron County. Fall plantings of rye and rye/clover are usually down on Labor Day weekend or soon after. Usually that is dependant on when the winter rye became available at the feed stores.
If it doesn't rain I'm going to plant some brassicas tomorrow and probably some more in two weeks.

The beginning of August was what I was planning on this year. Of course it never seems to work out like I plan.

The seeds didn't get washed away, I got little sprouts coming along, but my clover needs mowed really bad.

It was a fall mix I got from Earnst seeds, they are right down the road.
It has 2 kinds of turnips and 2 kinds of rape, for just under three bucks per pound.

Well here it is with Labor Day weekend upon us and I still haven't planted my little backyard plot. LOL
I picked up a bag of Biologic seed the other day with winter wheat, oats, clover, and brassicas. Hope to get it in no later than the end of next week. smileys-whistling-823718

Well, yer not late with planting that stuff. Perfect timing really. I planted winter wheat last year way to early and the deer did not even touch it.
