Been slowly upgrading some of my cooking toys and bought one of Steven Raichlen's Best of Barbecue SR8016 Stainless-Steel Beer-Can Chicken Rack with Drip Pan. This thing is really built & makes my ole one purdy much obsolete. Has option of putting a beer can in holder or using the ss container with your own liquid recipie in it. Can't wait to give it a try. Heck...the directions say you can even drink 1/2 of the beer in the can before using!! ;D

Ok, do you put foil over it or just stand it up in the oven like that?

No foil is used. I found best results are on a grill using the indirect method(have beer can chicken on one side w/burner off or no coals) with other side burner on. 350 degrees for about 1.5hr with a 4 lb chicken. Can also be done in a coventional oven.

OH...forgot to mention...only use a highend beer such as the fine beechwood aged Budweiser (not lite!!) nor non of dem skunky smellin imports like Hinnie!! ;D

Never tried it cookin chicken but ain't too bad tastin so likely it would just do just fine.

7 LB Purdue roaster put on at 5PM. Indirect method used with left burner doin the work & right side the cookin. 7PM its yummy time!! Beechwood aged from the inside(courtesy of Budweiser) plus a few soaked apple chips to add a lil smoke on the outside!

And you didn't invite me? Dutch...next time I'll do a "BIG beer can turkey" so it will be enuff to go around!! My Mrs ate so much that shes startin to look like a chicken...of course a cute trim one that is!! It really came out good...almost as good as the Bud!!
