Game commission won’t be happy until they kill off most of the deer on SGL”s. DCNR higher ups won’t be happy until they kill off all the deer on state forest lands. In another 20 years we will just be like Europe. if you don’t own your land, have permission or pay to hunt on a farmers land, that belongs to the Farm Bureau that you all bad mouth, you can only go for a walk carrying a gun on SGL or DCNR lands. It’s come a long way since I started in the late 1950’s, and very little of it has been good. I see it every year life long hunters giving it up, mostly related to old age, and not being replaced by the younger generation.

This sounds to me like a better way to do things than the current system, which was better than the one before it. I love the online way.

It was also good to see that DMAP issuance has also been staggered out to third round which will begin Monday, August 12. This was first started last year and helped to avoid additional bottlenecking as many already have obtained their regular doe licenses by then.

I wish the DMAPs would go out first, that would help in 2G

I really dislike the horning in on flintlock season with high power rifles. Why? Just extend the regular season another week.

I support what they did for the upcoming season to avoid another fiasco as last year but would have zero issues in buying a stamp & writing a check!!

This should help alleviate some bottlenecks, but I don't think they went far enough. Mostly the problem is in the minds of hunters thinking if they don't get in line or online, they won't get a tag. Most don't follow the news enough that, except for a couple units, you have been guaranteed your first choice, for years.

If it's an extension of rifle season, will a hunter need a flintlock stamp to use their flintlock? I thought they were legal weapons in any firearms season.

They are planning to melt both together. Flintlocks can flip the buck tag. I can't wait for all the questions that will spin off. For instance, why can't rhe buck tag be flipped in the first rifle season then. 😫 Then if flintlock can do it why can't I do it if I buy the stamp? Don't want doe killed where they want doe killed?

In urban areas with overpopulations of deer, allowing all buck tags to be used for antlerless deer would help reducing numbers more effectively than if they are used to tag bucks only.

I thought maybe there was a certain WMU or other unit(SRA etc) already designated to allow overlapping use of cf's in Late Season?? Doesn't apply to me but just curious.

I would think the only time you need a muzzleloader stamp now is in , the now week only flintlock season. From Dec 26th to January 1st. I think they now should give us Flintlock hunters the final 2 weeks of Archery season to make up for these 2 weeks we lost.

The post Christmas flintlock season is my favorite time to hunt. With some luck, there is snow and there's just nothing like hunting with a flinter when it's covered in white and beautiful!!
I think this is tragic what they are doing.

I see cf/flinter overlap is in Wildlife Management Units 4A, 4D and 5A with no change to rest of WMU’s. I missed this in my first read. Is the CWD really that bad there?
