The Conowingo Dam is the first dam on the Susquehanna up from the Bay. We stopped there on the way back from DC today. We weren't there long, maybe 10 minutes, literally saw dozens of Bald Eagles. It was crazy, and incredible.

Neat place!! Always been a good place attracting eagles as plenty of fish migrating up from the Chesapeake plus those fed through the hydroelectric turbines. At one time you could fish off the catwalk directly behind dam. Now due to security reasons only shoreline fishing allowed.

A friend just crossed dam & said flood gates are wide open from all the heavy rain. Road over dam is still open.

My nephew drove across the dam the other day and said there must have been 2 dozen eagles that he saw. Narrow road, so he really didn't have a chance to look so good

My brother worked at Peach Bottom Power plant for a few years in the mid 80s and said there were lots of fish in the lower Susquehanna. The eagles probably eat pretty well there.

The eagles and Osprey do the same thing to a lesser degree Below Kinzua.
