I said years ago, when that dude from the PGC was signing leases on GL's, that needing a license increase was OVER. Surface leases, Royalty payments, etc... I got a bit of poo-poo from members here, and elsewhere, for suggesting that it was a HUGE game changer for that agency. As if royalties aren't perpetual. Of course, I knew what gas did for little peon land owners like myself, and many others. The vocal naysayers, believing it's a "flash in the pan" apparently... not so much.
Didja all read this ri'chere ? ....."The agency received $326,286,426 last year alone from natural resources and rights of ways."
PLEASE don't tell me that they will complain because gas prices are a bit lower now. DUH ! It's cyclical. They are FLUSH with money from Gas. Actually, this is one reason I DO wish the PGC/PFBC were combined. That way the PFBC would reap some rewards from gas, for their fish programs. PFBC sadly does not gain that hefty benefit.
DO NOT CRY PGC ! You are one lucky agency ! There's a reason you no longer see the lobbying for a license increase as in the past. I agreed with an increase years ago. Not now with all this natty resource cash coming in. NO WAY !

I wonder if Sens. Scott Hutchinson and Chris Dush have a plan in mind that would allow state game lands to come on the real estate market so they, or some of their friends can scoop them up for the gas rights?

At the peak, gas was $9, it's now below $2, so they will get a good bit less. Like he said, they have to manage that money properly, and I hope they do.

Who gives a ^&*# in the grand scheme of things! It's WAYYYY more than the zero they had prior to signing all these big leases. That's like saying, "You were giving me $90 a day of free money last month, now you're only giving me $20 a day of free money". COME ON MAN !

Ask the "Bradford Boys" what the gas industry has done for their lives. And that's miniscule peon stuff, comparatively.

Kim Ward was trying to make a grab for some PGC monies. I sent her a strongly worded letter telling her hands off. Then I actually got a call from one of her aids (young kid) who was explaining that the PGC said they "have no plans for their big fund balance". To which I said the State is in the same place.....big fund balance....no plans.
Then I told the aid that once the legislature get's it's mitts on a funding source, they NEVER let it go. He said that wasn't true. I said tell me about the Johnstown flood gas tax.
We parted ways of him being silent on the gas tax thing and me not changing my mind.
Then Ward relented with the money grab......but came back via doubling the PGC payment in lieu of taxes from $1.20 per acre to $2.40 per acre. More than one way to skin a cat.

I thought that was a phone tax or something?? Guess I need to Google that.

That's not a phone tax ^. It's a "foam" tax.

I thought it was a gas tax. A liquor tax is even worse!! The State makes all the profits on the sale…then adds another 18% just for funzies!!!

You won't hear any poo booing from me eithe.r I opposed a license increase years ago and still do. The one thing the PGC does not need is a license increase.

The PGC was one of the best funded game agencies in the country, even prior to the gas boom, and some said that they still desperately needed a licnese increase. Aint no way the legislature is going to approve that now and hopefully not for a long time.
