I was feeding horses this morning at daybreak when I got to hear a flock of turkeys wake up.No gobbling but I never get tired of hearing those hens yelp back and forth.Spring is coming.

Spring is NOT overrated. Heard 2 Gobblers across the road last week spouting off.

The best thing about summer is that hunting season follows

Trouble is Summer follows on the heels of Spring and then I'm hot all the time I agree. I hate heat and humidity I hate the humidity too, but summer is the time to get work done that you don't want to be stuck doing when one's time is better spent hunting or fishing.

The wife and I use to say, If we ever decide to move once we retire it wouldn't be south, we both hate the hot humid weather, but north. Well we have both grown long in the tooth since then, and have also learned to hate the cold. I have lived in Florida in June, I have lived in Newfoundland in the winter, neither are a nice place to be at that time of year. We have decided to stay put in central Pennsylvania.🤣

Gobbling good down here for the past couple of weeks. Been watching a local flock and strutters have been with them for about three weeks now. I got the weed whacker all ready to go for our summer turkey season. Honeysuckle are beginning to pop some green already.

The company that's logging my property started the week after Christmas. I stopped by the property today to see how he's making out and he happened to be on site loading butt logs. He told me they've been seeing and hearing ten gobblers on the property. Said there is a nice flock of hens around as well.

I did some scouting yesterday. Heard a few gobbles at first light and then pretty good gobbling mid morning when the sun was higher.

Heard Spring Peepers last night for the first time this year. Key indicator, winter is in the books! Old timers say that the frog's have to look thru glass 3 times before spring is really here. That would be ice.

I always heard it as they had to hit their heads on pond ice three times before it was spring time.
