Dutch's post about politic subjects dominating discussions made me wonder what everyone else does when they are outdoors people with no hunting or fishing to satisfy them to do outside. I haven't cross country skied since the 90s, Haven trapped in the last two years, rarely fish in the winter anymore............
I've been tying flies and boiling a little maple sap,..... Oh yah, and fighting about trump on this site. What else is keep you guys occupied, especially the retired fellas?

I'm spending some time tying some flies and cleaning a few guns at my leasure. I'm also planning a few leather projects; a new hunting bag for my one flintlocks and a baldric for a long knife and tomahawk combination. I try to keep busy during these slow winter months.
I will tell you this though, I'm f^#(%^g tired of all the political shat on this outdoor blog!

I like to winter time scout. Trails, rubs and scrapes are easy to see. I am always looking for new stand sites and trimming shooting lanes around existing ones. I plan to take a walk this coming weekend if the weather cooperates. I need to investigate the area I shot this past falls buck at. Probably prep a spot for a new stand. I get all of my fall hunting gear washed and stowed away and pull out my spring gear for turkey.

I still have one more group to fire from my new 243 that had to be sent back to Ruger. Maybe this week?
Now that the new xbow is kinda sighted in, after that FU, I'll shoot it at 25 yds and get it sighted at that distance?
I need to get a new broadhead target as well. Have some Rages coming tomorrow. I still prefer fixed, but will try one to see what happens.

My life turns to hockey I play ice hockey in a beer league, but most of the time I am traveling somewhere in the Midwest or Mid-Atlantic to watch my grandson play. Even in the fall his tournaments trump hunting.

A good time to tear down all my saltwater fishing reels, clean plus relube. Also respool all with fresh line. Normally also tie flounder drift rigs. Some early boat prep is also done before things heat-up. Early flounder starts end of next month(March) with only a few weeks ahead of Spring Gobbler. Really not much time between end of Late Flintlock and thd early VA flounder bite. I used to also work in some ice fishing back when Mother Nature provided ice. Thinking about it...really no time to work in any cabin fever.

Sounds like most of us have hobbies that keep us moving around. And we still get in some time for spirited political discussion.

I've been working on 45-70 reloads and my current project is cutting down 10 gauge 3.5" shells to 2.75" and replacing the steel shot with lead 7.5's

I WAS getting myself in "Morel shape". But lately, my thoughts, my days and nights, have been consumed thinking about Liz Cheney!

50 Gal of sap to make 1 Gal of syrup. That's called a retirement project in my book. Wayyyyy too busy to try that for now. I only tap sugar maples. Most years it right around 40 to 1. Ours is a primitive, simple operation. We have free nat gas but this year I am also trying a turkey frier and propane. We only make 3-5 gallons most years and give it as gifts. One couple insists on giving us a bunch of wine they make. I'm not a wine drinker but my wife drinks a little of it and we give the rest of it away too-not the cranberry though, the wife takes it to camp. She loves it.

Wish I had a homemade wine connection This couple makes two, sometimes three, different kinds to make each year. My wife says most are sweet wines, but it all tastes like rotted fruit to me.
