While reading and taking part in the political debates in the other threads, I figured I'd try post a couple pics of my 2023 project. thank goodnes my wife was here to help. Cabin-I planned on starting it a year earlier, but my wife had to go through chemo treatments in '22. Thankfully she has a clean bill of health now. I've probably done about 75% of the work alone so it's going pretty slowly. I had help standing the walls and putting up the rafters after I cut them. A guy I used to work with help with the electric-he did the thinking, I did the grunt work-don't want the place to burn down. Bucks-I also placed a pic of a few of my archery bucks, 2 eights, a nine, and a ten, that I did the euro mounts on. BTW, a taxidermist told me that the way I did the one on the left is technically a euro and the others are western or Texas mounts. I generally just say skull mounts.

Your camp is simply beautiful.
Glad your wife is ok as well.
Those bucks all needed another two year. 😂 No they didn't.
You had a great 2023.

Cabin project looks great Rusty as well as those fine bucks!! Is that where you do your hunting from? The cabin is in 2F. I lived in the area for 10 years and bought the camp a few years after moving-I missed the Allegheny River and the ANF too much to stay away. The east side of the property borders ANF land. We had the old trailer torn down in late April. I used to hunt deer in the area when I lived there,. There are a lot more nice bucks in the area now than before 2002 when I moved. Now nearly all my deer hunting is done in 2E where we live now. That is where these bucks were killed. They are numbers 1,2,3, and 5 of my best. Number 4 is out in my garage. Second from the right is this past Oct. buck. The only thing I have hunted from camp since buying it is squirrels. I did kill two turkeys while hunting squirrel but now .22s are not allowed so I guess there will be no more of that. Thanks for the compliments on the cabin guys. I'll post some pics when it's complete and the porch is added.

Loggy, I only have a little over an acre(1.2)around the cabin in 2F. I own A couple chunks of ground in 2E, 86+- where our house sits and 12 about a mile away. I have planted radishes and clover in part of about a 1 acre unused piece that borders the end of an 18 acre field. A neighbor plants the 18 acres in corn and hay. Probably the parts of my place that attract the most deer some years are a couple stands of mostly white oaks. The farmer chops all the corn so it's gone by about the third week of archery season. He leaves the field clean and plants a mix of clover, peas, and something I can remember for a cover crop and round bales it before the corn is planted.
