We hear so much about the slackers among younger Americans, it's good to hear about some of the millions that are taking advantage of opportunities available in our booming economy. My youngest has a friend in her mid twenties that is pulling in around 100K after starting a pet grooming business. We need to hear more about the good that is happening. Many of the guys I know that are of my advanced years do little more than whine and make themselves miserable.

I remember years ago when we had snow storms you would have kids knocking on your door asking if you needed your walks/drives shoveled. No more today with their faces pasted to ipad screens.

If they won a million dollar lottery, they'd complain about the taxes.

Well, I do have to admit. I get powerful mad when we get "incentive bonuses", and I see how my good uncle, Sam, kicks me in the teeth with his tax on that.

Why ? That means you don't have to do those as "make-up" days in June. I'd be all for it. LOL

I have a customer of mine who got into some trouble when he was a kid.Having a felony conviction isn't good on your resume so a local tow truck driver loaned him some money to buy his own tow truck.Several years later,he has 5 trucks and a pretty busy auto repair business.A few years ago he was contacted and offered a crazy amunted of money to re-fuel the generators at a couple cell towwers during the winter. He went out and bought polaris razor put a fuel taking in the back and rented a skid steer to plow his way in.He now has a monopoly on that business and makes well over 1 million a year just fueling cell towers from the mid west all over the northeast. He capitalized on it and bought a custome F550 with multiple fuel tanks. This guy is one of the nicest guys I know and has more money than anyone I know.I friggun love it..

Of course I can remember those days when we could make some real money shoveling snow or mowing lawns. If we had a goodly snowstorm and school was closed, I could make ten to fifteen dollars in a day. I got at least a dollar and a half mowing a lawn. Raking leaves in the fall was another moneymaker. Working for money taught me good lessons and they stuck with me. Those days, a hershey bar or a coke was a nickel. A decent fishing rod with baitcasting reel cost about $5. By the time I was 16, taking a girl out to the movies and to Shellys restaurant in New Cumberland for a burger, fries and a coke could be done for $5 with change left over. Gas for a car was between 25 and 30 cents a gallon. Drive ins had dollar a car nights. The only entity that has prospered with inflation is government. We sure haven't. But if you learned the rules of the game, you could play and win. It wasn't all luck.
