Why are LED flashlights illegal? The lights in my hat are LED and I use it all the time when walking to my stand.

The PGC loves ambiguity. Take the baiting laws or, for trappers, using exposed bait has no clear definition.
Hunters have asked for clarity, and they refuse to give it to us.
Oh and the Sunday trapping law is never enforced, and never has been.
I have little respect for them.

Why are LED flashlights illegal? The lights in my hat are LED and I use it all the time when walking to my stand. Because they are a electornic device that the PGC has not made excpetions for in the reguluatory langauge. The PGC's approach to electronic devices was to start with everything being illegal, then they have selectively legalized very particular devices. With that said, the PGC has still used selective enforcement at the same time. LED flashlights, you will not get a citation for, even though they are illegal. Tracking after hours, you most likely will not get a citation for even though it is illegal. Take laser rangefinders. They were no exceptions written into the regs up until just a few years ago and it was not enforced, even though the vast majority of archery hunters used them. The PGC said during the drone case, it was an illegal electronic device and tracking after hours to recover was illegal, but they often don't enforce either. It is a big can of worms that they opened up. The better approach would have been to work on a solution to the drone issue and put out some press releases about their use being illegal. Instead they chose a sting operation and significant fines instead of warnings not to repeat it until this is sorted out.
