I'm a big fan of Kimber Montanas and was sad to hear that Kimber discontinued them. Two years ago I bought a Kimber hunter in 6.5 creedmoor.I really like the caliber but always wished it was a Montana.I decided that I'd have to find a NIB or used one so I searched Gunbroker.I found a new one at a gunshop in Minnesota so I bought it and had it sent to a local FFL.It's probably the last gun I'll ever buy.It was actually less than any that I've bought locally.Interestingly, the guy told me that they had a bunch from a shipment 100 days ago.Nobody has any around here and they all claim that Kimber dropped the Montana,

I really liked the Hunter when I handled it a few years ago. Is it lighter than the Montana?

Couple years ago was in the market for a 6.5 Creedmoor and extensively researched all the top shelf factory offerings. Ended up buying a Browning X-Bolt Stalker. Hands down the most accurate rifle in my arsenal with proven Browning XBolt rock solid quality. Knew it was "likely" the last gun i'd ever buy too!! LOL

I really liked the Hunter when I handled it a few years ago. Is it lighter than the Montana? They're supposedly within a few ounces of each other but the hunter definatley feels heavier. It's a nice rifle that shoots and functions perfectly. The stock is just a little thin for me.I just like the way a Montana feels in my hands.

A bare rifle has to be 6.5 lbs or lighter to interest me anymore

My 22" bbl 6.5CM Browning Stalker weighs 6lbs 5oz. I'm in half decent physical shape and toting a gun all day a tad over 6 lbs doesn't bother me yet. Maybe in my later years as I slow down will be looking for something even lighter! My Browning Gold 12 3.5" 26" bbl even weighs 7 1/2 lbs and still doesn't pose any issues. I have Quake Claw Slings on both guns.

Yeah my X-bolt was only heavy because it was wood stock 7mm Magnum

My right shoulder is tweaked and it takes surprisingly little weight on it to agitate it.

My shoulders ache just walking around. Any weight gun aggravates them more

I have arthritis in my hip, so the Doc says. Oh, and in my neck and shoulder.
It's all downhill from here.

I really just want a Barrett Fieldcraft or a NULA but my pocketbook won't allow for it

I picked it up the other day,got it home and stuck a Sightron S1 in some Talley mounts.I don't have a 6.5 arbor so I boresighted it this morning through the barrel at 50 yards. The third shot got me in the bull and I shot two more into a small group at 50 yards with all three 127 gr TTSX's touching. Now that were're on paper,I'll shoot some 140gr Interlocks and 140gr accubonds at 100 yards to see what I'll hunt with this year. After the season,I'll probablt take it apart, lighten the trigger, get the barreled action cerakoted and maybe have the stock dipped. For now,I just wanted to make sure everything shoots and functions the way it should. It looks to be a fun little rifle.
