The scope is removed before you would apply heat. The rings don't get loc-tite Great. That's what I put it on. 😕 It doesn't matter. Hopefully you put it on the bases too

After being sick for the last week, due to a tick bite, today was a great day! Got the yard mowed, and spent time at the range. The Savage Axis, with the new scope is a shooter. Life is good

Sorry to hear about your illness, Dutch. Tick bites are nothing to ignore. Lyme disease is just one problem with them. When in Africa, I had a tick bite that turned into tick bite fever. Fortunately one of the doctors at the Mercersburg medical site had practiced with Doctors Without Borders in Africa and knew what my symptoms disclosed. I got better within hours of seeing him. Some information on tick bites and the problems associated: www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/is-that-a-tick-bite

The problem is I could not see the bite area, back of the knee. When I discovered it, it was quite large and red. I was getting a shower and felt the pain and saw redness creeping out from behind.
I was in the ER less than an hour later being seen. Had been there the previous day, and was already on antibiotics for what they thought was pneumonitis. When the Doc took one look at the area from the doorway, he said, we are putting you on Doxycycline. When he came back he had a script for 10 days. I told him I wanted 14. He came back with a new script. 😂

Good choice going with 14 days of doxy. Maybe it is just my old eyes talking to me, but that looks like a classic bullseye rash. Get tested for Lyme, for sure after the regimen of doxy.

They drew blood and are testing for Lyme. I couldn't see the rash, so the Doc took that pic for me. Now I know why he could diagnose from the doorway. Lol

Best wishes Dutch for a full healing. Last year I found a tick deeply embeded in my thigh which I had doc remove. Was only there lil over a day. Had a small rash not nearly as distinct as yours. Doc gave me a single dose of doxycycline. Had no symptoms.....fatigue, fever etc. Rash was gone in 2 days. Not sure of doxycycline mm dosage.

So Dutch. Hows about an update on the state of your health? Inquiring minds want to know that you are OK.

So, I loaded some 80 grain Barnes TTSXs with 41 grains IMR 4350, and this is the result. Mild recoil for a 13 year old girl, who minds recoil. Hope she gets a shot in the upcoming youth season. I always wanted a 243 of my own. Maybe...... 🙂

Great caliber for woodchucks to deer, and I’ve known of a couple of bear that was harvested by the 243. I load 100 grain round nose for deer though, using 4350.

The reviews on these Barnes 80 grainers are pretty darned good. Looking forward to seeing a dead doe at the hands of my 13 year old great niece! I also bought a Vortex scope for her gun, pretty happy with that, for $150

I think I'm going to get one of these Savage Axis rifles. And I definitely like your choice of scopes

I think I'm going to get one of these Savage Axis rifles. And I definitely like your choice of scopes I bought a pair of Vortex binocs for my daughter last year, was impressed. My brother bought a pair of higher end Vortex binocs and loves them. My boss mentioned he liked his Vortex Crossfire scope, so, I bought one. That rifle/scope combo is very reasonable. I did buy an Mcarbo replacement trigger spring, which greatly improved the trigger on the Axis. $20
