Today a friend, my brother and I helped stock part of Pine Creek that runs thru the Pa Grand Canyon.
There is a 17 mile section where only one road goes down into the Canyon. We drove down the service road along the Pine Creek rail trail. We stocked 5000 fish in a 5 mile section.
Eagles were overhead waiting for us! LOL
It was a great experience to be able to drive thru the Canyon.
There are three private in holdings in the Canyon, with camps. Their access is to drive down the service road, then take boats across to their camps. No electricity, and no phone service of any kind. Very cool

Even Eagles will have a hard time catching dinner in water that high and murky. Low and clear..... forget it. Osprey pickings.

There are darned few people that get a chance to make that 7.5 mile drive, except DCNR workers. Glad I did.
It's simply beautiful at the bottom of the canyon. Lots of deer hunting memories there

I canoed the canyon to Tiadaghton many times as a young man. The rapid near the swinging bridge can be a little scarey. I also spent lots of time fishing the head of the canyon. The Hendrickson hatch is better on Pine than anywhere I've ever fished.

Looks like a lot of fun!! Wow....with those water conditions might be some good trout fishing by Saturday Opener down on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River!! I know some years when Muddy Creek(lower York County) tributory was stocked in high stream conditions the mouth where it dumped into the Susquehanna River was a hot trout spot.

The Hendrickson hatch is better on Pine than anywhere I've ever fished. We now have a 4 mile DHLAO on Pine starting at Ansonia. It's also a trophy select water. Our hatches aren't what they used to be. Caddis seems to be the most numerous and reliable

Good info to know. Thanks,Dutch. I need to get back there while I can still wade. I have fished the slate/cedar run area a couple times in the last couple years, but the head of the canyon is a special place. 30 years away is far too long.

Our camp is at the head of the canyon, and if you want a place to rent, $100 a night gets you all of it.
