Anybody know if they are still making the Accusporter? The website looks live but everything is out of stock. I have a buddy looking for a quality left handed flintlock and I mentioned the Accusporter but all I can find is the odd used one online.

I think I would like to get one as well if they are still making them. I shot one once and they are quality for sure.

I paid paid $490 for the first one I bought and several years later paid $799 for my son's.I bet if they still make them, there's pushing 1k.I like them but there's a limit that I'd spend on one.

If you want a decent FL,YOU ALMOST HAVE TO GO THAT ROUTE TODAY.I started with a TC Renegade back in 1987.The RMC is much better.I found a new TC firestorm on a rack a few years after they stopped making them.It was $400 and light so I bought it for my son.It was a total and complete pos.I sold it and bought him an RMC.

I saw you mention previously that you take a shooting stick with you.I did that for years and no longer do.There are many people much better with a FL than me but if I get a broadside shot at a deer under 60 yards,it's dead every time. When the smoke clears, there's meat laying there.I think you'd be amazed at the difference between a good FL and that firestorm.

I like the Firestorm except the trigger and that is probably where the problem lies. The trigger is absolutely atrocious. It will shoot cloverleafs from solid rest though

I bought a RMC Accusporter 2-3 years after first coming out. Paid around $550 for it. Even back then I felt $550 was even a lil salty for what you were getting. For that price it should of had a Silar Lock IMO. I got the 28" RMC's offered Green Mountain barrel that had a 1-28" twist plus an L&R Lock. Back then I was shooting a lot of 348 grain Powerbelts and other similar long bullets that were stabilized best in a fast twist barrel such as a 1-28". Think other choice was a 1-48"? This was my 2nd L&R locked flinter & which IMO are a miniscule step-up from a standard TC factory production lock(your Firestorm). A tad faster but not much. My RMC came with a Green Mountain Barrel which was a decent barrel. The bbl could be bought directly from GM, TOW etc and dropped in any factory run flinters stock that it was designed for. IMO....no better than a TC factory barrel offering. Have since owned a Colerain Barrel & the GM barrel is no comparison. The Accusporter was basically a "kit type gun assembly" product. I'm surprised they don't just sell it that way and knock some off price. No way in helI would I pay a thousand for one if the currrent production is comparable.
I also previously owned a bought new TC Firestorm 1-48" barreled(think 26") flintlock and if looking for a measurable step-up....don't think you will be happy laying out a Grand for an RMC. Soulds like a lil $$ put in your Firestorm for a trigger job is all you made need as your Firestorm meets your expectations accuracywise etc otherwise. Brad Emig(Cabin Creek) a gunbuilder did a trigger job on my very first flinter...a TC PA Hunter and it was like a different gun when done.

I have considered a trigger job on the firestorm. It is horrible.

Yeah....my FS & TC PA Hunter same thing. If you get a trigger job I'd also consider a light lock tuning as there's likely room for some improvement there too. Your FS has a removable breechplug etc so IMO you really would not gain much by going to a RMC. I'm not a 1-48" twist barrel fan but sounds like you're shooting the 245 Powerbelts very well. Can't argue with your results.

I never had a flintlock that wasn't accurate as long as the projectile was matched to the appropriate twist.I took the lock from my renegade and sent it to Cabin creek to be tuned and had them install a new case hardened frizzen. It was reliable but not as reliable or as fast as any of the three RMC's that I've owned. The shape and positioning of the pan on the L&R lock is far superior to the TC lock and requires me to use very little powder in the pan. There's nothing special about a green mountain barrel but the 1/28" twist allows you to shoot more effective projectiles. It's a nice rifle but it's not a custom rifle and shouldn't command a custom price or even one that approaches it.It's essentially a production rifle with some better components and as a result, much better than most other production rifles.I personally like the lighter weight and the way it feels when I shoot it and that transmits to confidence.

The RMC is a good muzzle loader, is it worth the price, they seem to sell, so I would say yes. I own three, two flints, and a rare percussion, actually one is my grandsons that I bought for him at a public sale. The green mountain barrel is a good barrel for the money, no, it's not the Douglas double X that's on my custom built flintlock, but it's not the same money either. "Good isn't cheap and cheap isn't good" The L&R lock isn't a Siler lock, but it's better than a lot of the locks on production guns. May be the reason why a lot of TC owners have bought a drop in L&R for their gun. Final word on this is I may be bias, I have known the original owner since my early teens, his wife longer than that, and his younger brother was one of my best friends in high school. You can decide for your self, but I think it's one of , if not the best production muzzleloader out there.

That's about the way I see it as well. You can certainly go custom and get better but the RMC is as good as it get's for a production gun.Are they worth $950?That's the question.
