This year has been the best poult recruitment I've seen in at least 4 years and I see many other people echoing the same thing. The number of predators did not decrease over the past year but the weather was much more favorable.I'm not saying predators don't take turkeys. They have big clutches for that reason and the recruitment rate only has to be a little over 1 poult per hen to keep the populations stable. The spring weather has a far bigger impact on the turkey population that the number of predators.

Up and down the east coast, numbers are falling. The weather isn't the same everywhere.

I agree with Doug. This year there seems to have been a modest turnaround in recruitment.... FINALLY!

Well....Gheeez...they put those 4-lb transmitters around a tiny Poult's neck and expect the Poult to out run a coyote.......

They put them on the hens and the stress put on them does increase mortality.Cold wet spring not only impact ground nesting birds but fawns as well. It's the cold wet springs.

If they trap birds, why can't they embed a X-mitter under their skin ? Hasn't that type of thing evolved in the year 2022 ? I mean, they do it for fish fer cryin' out loud !
