Our schools have been locked down with metal detectors for years. You're not just getting in.On top of that.the county deputized a bunch of retired state troopers and we put two in each school. These guys are well trained and while they don't walk the halls with an AR,they have adequate firepower within a reasonable distance.I never feared sending my kids to school and I never feared getting shot. Then again,I don't and never would live in a Liberal hell hole. Sounds like your schools are an exception to the norm. Glad they have all your schools protected with metal detectors plus 2 armed retired/trained State Police in every school. Should be a model for all school districts to follow! (12/30/21) Recent US government statistics indicate that about 2 percent of elementary schools in the US use metal detectors, 7 percent of middle schools and 10 percent of high schools.Yep,a very simple problem to fix. Here's another thought.Insyead of hiring 87K new IRS AGENTS,how bout they just put 87k more cops in schools?

I have news for you Loggy, almost every single worker in the US is faced with a significant reduction in health insurance benefits.Teachers should face the same issue as everyone else.
My wife lost her job as a store manager for a women's cloths chain due 100% to covid. Some of the top management got a big investor and they're opening stores all over the country. They wanted my wife back so she started the process of opening up a new store this week. They're hiring clerks at $18-$20/hr and so far, only one person has replied to their Indeed add. That kind of money won't buy what it did pre-covid and will result in more rising prices.

Yep that’s a doozy of an idea!! Cancel a $80 billion IRS investment that’s projected to return $204 billion.lol How about taking the $124 billion profit to arm our schools?

Projection are not reality when it comes to Libs. Wrong. This projection was formulated by the CBO(Congressional Budget Office) supported by substantiated historical data in connection with IRS ROI.

Gotta agree with Loggy. As a guy who worked on the client side (You know....us "good guys" ) when it's well known that the IRS is understaffed for the enforcement side, people being people will cheat more and more on their taxes. I've always found the IRS to be "reasonable" if I took a position based upon a "thread of a regulation", and they didn't agree. If they assessed the tax they would waive any penalties. But...if a client did something without my knowledge that was outright and intentionally wrong, dealing with the IRS proved very difficult. I had a client who's wife did the bookkeeping. They purchased like $20K of jewelry and ran the cost through "materials". Not happy IRS auditors when that was found. Sort of difficult to say it was "a mistake". Especially when that opened up the previous two years and they found about another $20K per year of that. I ask for penalty abatement ....'cause I always do that....and I was amazed the agent didn't outright laugh. No penalty waiver.....Ok, understandable. I explained to the client that they were "lucky" the agent didn't open up their individual returns (this was a C-corp audit) and asses the tax for a preferential dividend FOR THE THREE YEARS THEY COULD HAVE. That would have cost them at least another $5K per year....or $15K. I told them to just shut up about the penalty not being waived. The payback for enforcement of tax collection is a cost\benefit. Far more revenue will be raised than agents will cost. You can complain all you want about "unfair" or the ridiculous argument that income taxes are not "legal".....but this is a country of laws. And it's called "tax law" for a reason. If it's that despicable to pay your share of income taxes....there are many other countries to move to.

Oh the ole double whammy preferential dividend Lol Dave you sound like the “above board” type of tax professional that’s a credit to profession…..fight like hell for every legal deduction but always trustworthy to deal with! Your types gained respect from both the IRS and taxpayers which is valuable asset for a CPA to possess!!

Your types gained respect from both the IRS and taxpayers which is valuable asset for a CPA to possess!! That's what "we" collectively as a firm did. You have to be diligent in your thinking of "how to" provide tax saving services to your client base. Anyone can cheat....that's easy. But it gets down to hard work in order to take advantage of every deduction allowable by the code. Some area's are grey (as you well know) and you resort to spending many hours researching tax court cases and private letter rulings of certain issues to determine "the flow" of Treasury's thinking on some matters. If we had a shred of code\regulation\court case\PLR to "hang" our hat on, we would explain it to the client knowing if challenged by the IRS, we could be in for a "fight" thru the appeals path and perhaps still not "win". But, that was our job and that's why we get paid. It's a disservice to approach the work any other way.
