First trout opener by myself in probably 15 years or so. Everybody was "busy". I got to the local stream early at 5am as it gets very crowded to get a good spot. I was greeted by the same group of guys that was there last year. They spend the night drinking, tending the fire and listening to rap on their bluetooth speaker. Kept me entertained for awhile as a waited for the time to pass. Saw some drinking, some pot smoking and a few punches thrown as the morning went on, lol. Luckily none of it involved me except for my cigar smoke.
I managed 16 trout, one of which was a nice breeder Golden. Put them all back and called it a day at 12 noon.
Anybody else out?

I had a rough opener in Hillsgrove. I didn't catch anything and I didn't see anyone catch any. I didn't even see a Trout. More fisherman than I ever remember before though

Went to Laurel Hill. Former member muttley ( you remember him. lol) had/has a camp up the hill from the creek, and would fish there some also.
Well, 3 pards including me. One guy, "Grumpy", caught one. The other 3 of us, never had a bite. We sure know how to catch 'em, yessiree.

Laurel Hill is one of my favorites. Easy access to the FFO section.

It is a nice mountain stream. Wide enough to spread your wings. That said, it's under-utilized. They really cut down on putting fish in. I know it's logistically tough to do, but it would sure be nice if they could get some young volunteers to spend a few hours float stocking the remote sections. It's a crap show at the popular spots next to the road when they stock. Same can be said for any stream though I reckon.
We were up at the walking bridge where artificial only starts. We walked upstream about a mile in the more emote section. Not so much as a nibble.

The mutt is going out to camp this week to cut some firewood. When I get tired I will do a bit of fishing for natives in one of the streams that runs past camp. I have caught natives up to 8 1/2 inches from that stream. Best bait of all is garden worms, but they will hit a whole bunch of fly patterns, both wet and dry. Would much rather catch a 4 inch native brookie than any stocked trout. Later on when it gets warmer I might try that artificial lures section on Laurel Hill Creek. If I keep any it is usually only one for the frying pan, and then only if it bleeds.

Today I went up to Buffalo Creek today. Went to FFO area, water was high and muddy. Tossed out anything big and ugly....not a hit. But it was good to get out and breath some fresh air!

I liked the creek a bunch. For me, easy access for mor yards than I could walk. Plus…if I took my cart it’s on a dirt road that likely hasn’t seen a police officer in decades

Gheeezzz....the weather is really not conducive for much fishing. That, plus the days when it's nice I've had grandkid commitments (which I love!)....but now with this rain, and the colder temps looks like several more days before the streams will be calm enough to fish.
Ok....done whinning.....(really?)

Well today was a planned power outage for Penelec in my area. This was cancelled due to the snow storm. At 4:30 AM we had instead an unplanned power outage which resulted in me starting the generator which I was going to do anyhow sono harm no foul. Electricity is still not on but did get a call from Penelec advising the Planned power outage will take place tomorrow. Are these guys good or what.? Measured 10 inches on this mornings walk. Decided not to plow and hoping for a fast melt. Once electric comes back on I'll refill the generator with non ethanol gas @ $5 something per gallon for tomorrows PLANNED six hour shutdown.
