Salma is not registered. She is a grade kayak, I just get her a launch permit to make her feel wanted

Well she'll keep for a while yet. Was a beautiful morning and now the sky is grey and it's snowing now as I type this...luckily the kayak is in her shed hibernating, come April I'll see if she is awake and put her new launch permits on...Looks like a white out now; maybe April is pushing it?

Just saw the opening day of trout is back to one date statewide and is April 2rd this year. Hmmm.

That's good. SW PA should have always opened prior to Mid-April. Heck, should be March actually. It it's too cold for ya to fish, simply wait until it's warmer. The fact is, in these SW PA streams (save for the mountains), the water warms, and the fish are gone by end of May. That's not a gaggle of time for folks that stay local, to fish over available Trout.

I wish Pa would go to no opening day like other states. They just stock stocking in March and folks can have at it. It would spread the pressure out and the fishing would be better for a longer period of time.
I have a stream I fish in western Washington County that is not approved trout water. It is stocked in WV beginning in February. I go down and fish in March at the state line and upstream and have done quite well. I have to release the fish but I usually don't keep trout anyways.

There are some streams designated as artificial lures\fly's only and you can fish them year round.

Gettin ready for some stream fishing for trout!! Blue Wing Olive. Size 16. Tied with a Turkey Biot (from the wing). I took some bleached one's I had and dye'd them using RIT acid base. The Mrs (retired art teacher) mixed up some RIT green with a few dash's of RIT red dye to get the olive green you see here.
