Even wade fishing this time of year it's smart to have a life jacket on Yep. I bought an inflatable one for when I am fishing on the boat by myself. They are pricey, but you don't even know that you have it on. My boat is big enough that it isn't mandatory, but you never know what will happen. Only takes a second.

Ehhhhhh. I get the concern. But it depends on the type of wading, and physical health of said wader I reckon. For instance, if I'm wading in knee to waist high water in the Yough, I don't need float. IF I'm trying to navigate across the same river on my tip-toes, for sure.
Per health. If you're elderly, or compromised health, for sure.
Was a thread on another site where a 90 year old died when he fell out of a CLIMBER stand this year. IF YOU'RE 90, DON'T TRY TO USE A CLIMBER. IT'S STUPID !

I'll add. Boats, canoe, Salma Kayaks in frigid water. For sure. If you can't get to shore quickly, or cannot right the ship, hypothermia is gonna kill ye deader n dead.

My good friend and I plan on making a day to do some fall fly fishing on relatively small, local streams. I'm thinking an inflatable life gizmo may be a good idea for someone like myself.
I recall as a young man I once slipped and ended up "sitting" in a small local stream that had very cold water in it. It took me a few seconds to actually get my body to move. Falling into very cold water can cause even the most healthiest of individuals to have "frozen mobility" for a time!!

And I said I was going to get better with the "sexual innuendo" stuff. Awwww shucks. Who am I foolin' ? Besides. Most of yinz stuffy old bastards, need some spice in your lives. lol
