I went to Laurel Hill, FF\artifical lure only section this am. The rain was soft, overcast, so I figured the water would be a little "dark" and the fish would be biting! I was not disappointed. I finished for about 2.5hr, brought to net 4 nice brokies, lost two nice ones from my bad knot tying, and missed at least another 6. When the rain started pounding, I left. Caught 'em all on "soft hackle" bead head. Didn't matter if it was an FO or black bead either.......go figure!!

The Green and Brown Drake hatches on Pine Creek in Tioga county were pretty darned amazing this week. Have not seen that many flies in the air in decades.

My new seat is freaking AMAZING!! I can adjust the three legs to the terrain I'm on and it's very stable...as long as I'm not on a slippery flat rock.

Welp......I missed more than I should have and never brought one to net. My buddy was much more successful and landed 3, missed at least that or more. Green Catipillers were dropping from the trees and my buddy got two on his green weine. I tried mine and got nothing....not even a look. So, we compared the green when done and here's the deal: Top one was what I used with no hits Second one was what he used with success. The red head made the difference....even tho no red was on the real ones. The 4-5 ones I tied up today. I "improved" them with small wire ribbing and used a white hackle to imitate the white legs the real ones had. A good time was had. We started at 7:00 and quit at 10:30 before the heat.

Did you use the compound or the recurve?

Hate that term, "Green Weenie". Brings back such horrible memories.

Did you use the compound or the recurve? Don't get too confused. This was fly fishing for trout.....not bow fishing for carp. Man.....I gotta 'splain everything!

I'll be there in a week camping with my scouts. I don't know much about fishing but that stream always looked like a really good one, seems to get a lot of use though with the easy access.

Well it's a "Catch and release only" until like mid July. IDK, I never keep 'em. Fly's or artificial lures only. No bait. so the fish are always in there as nobody takes 'em out, and they feed on the natural aquatic insects....so it's fun trying to fool 'em and fun bringing 'em in.

Headed back up to Laurel Hill this am. I’ve tied up some “new” flies on size 18 & 22. Man…..those are tiny!! I tied up some “ tiny black caddis” flys on a recommendation that this is likely what the trout are rising for. I can’t see what the trout are coming up for…but I know it’s small…& blends in with the dark water.
Film at 11:00

Well....only one to count. Got 'em on a Wolly-Bugger....green. Tossed out everything else that I thought would work....but no more.
Water was just a tad high....but very murky from the storms yesterday.
A slow, steady rain is much better to fish in. Water still gets a little murky.....but more bugs are washed into the stream a little at a time.
