Surprised no thread about it. I took my nephew out. We decided to try new water this year closer to home. I was expecting a ton of fishing pressure cause it is closer to civilization but pressure was not all that bad. I brought 9 to the net. My nephew brought in 4, including a 20 inch golden which was released Covid style. 6 feet from us. We would have thrown it back anyways. All and all, not a bad day.

Yesterday was my opener for the 2021 season. Mount Piscah SP got the call. And I was rewarded with a handsome soft maple which ate my fly when I was forced to break the tippet just before I nearly tippet the kayak over. Got the maple on a back cast which looks easier than it actually is. The maple devoured an olive wooly bugger giving new meaning to the phrase " this bud's for you" Felt great to be on the water enjoying a beautiful day and the turtles were a pleasant distraction from the lack of fish...who knew the dang place would be fished out this early in the season... In other news, had another bear in last evening. Saw my first tree swallow on my AM walk yesterday. Still awaiting the hummers, rose breasted gross beaks and the orioles.

We stocked our club pond Thursday and Friday evenings before the opener. Had lots of help with that for a change. Couple of the rainbows I carried out to the tank trailer, barely fit into a five gallon pail.
Busy opening morning at the pond, most seemed happy. Little girl landed a nice "goldfish" and was pretty excited.
Had to go up to Halifax Friday morning. Coming back, PF&BC trout truck came flying past me on 322, going about 70. Guess somebody was in a hurry for their government fish?
