Nice catch!! Some fine eating there for sure if your a cat connoisseur!! Yep since that lake is clean we had a nice catfish dinner for the family. Made the trip again yesterday and the wife and I caught 13 with a couple decent ones and the others were small. We returned them all unharmed to the lake though.

What rigs/bait were you using?

What rigs/bait were you using? We were using a double hook rig with cut skipjack on one hook and chicken on the other. Had a peg float on in between the hooks with a couple foot leader attached to a 3 way swivel. On the drop leg of the swivel I was using a Dragging sinker (larry muse style). This keeps the bait a couple of feet off the bottom when dragging and helps prevent snags. We were dragging 2 directly behind the boat and then dragging the other two off of planer boards. Tried to keep our speed at about 0.5 MPH either using the trolling motor or a drift sock with the wind.

The Potomac is one of the better places to catch Blues from what I hear. The lake we are fishing at started stocking them about 4 years ago and they are doing well. Still will need some time to get to those whopper sizes. Over hear they were native to the Ohio River basin, but pollution had wiped them out..
