Did some turkey scouting in the morning then hit two trout streams to check out he mentored action and maybe look for some new water. Mentored pressure was pretty good. I was walking streams and walked up to quite a few people that were not expecting to see me at the moment. Lots of kids playing in the water and throwing rocks and lots of adults fishing. One group had three adult males fishing in the 40s and one kid about 10. The kid wasn't even fishing. You could see in there eyes they were uncomfortable with the optics but I guess they don't really care.
I did see some really nice family groups. Mom, dad, two or three kiddos enjoying that the day is supposed to be about. Was glad to see them out there. One group I ran into the kids wouldn't stop talking to me about the trout the caught. They were so excited.
Anyways. I used to take my nephew out but he is too old now. Been looking for some kids to go but they are all "too busy with sports" according to their moms.

It's truly sad that some take advantage, but do we throw the baby out with the bath water? I don't know

That's not to say they can't help a youth bait a hook or cast a line, but as soon as the line is in the water the rod must be handed to the youth. An adult with his own rod and the line in the water is not youth fishing.

As said, it's simply a day that all (well not all, but a whole bunch) the daddy red-necks can tote their yutes to the stream, and use them as an excuse to fish. Ummmmm hey PFBC, THE PURPOSE of the day, should be adults HELPING the kids as they hopefully try to catch fish ? Redneck Daddy is already "hooked" on fishing, I thought this was intended to "hook" more kids ?
