I know this isn't made specifically for fly fishing, but I've been thinking all winter long of how I could make my stream fishing a bit easier. Up to this point I've been using a "Cane Chair" that I purchased from a place in Canada. The Cane Chair has helped immensely, but there are those times when the small 3-feet fold out chair just decides to have one leg sink into a soft bottom....causing me to tip.....and yes, I've gotten very wet more times than I can count. So, I've searched the 'net and even drew up some crude plans of making one myself by repurposing my crutches. But this morning I came across this item that I think my work well. I can affix some type of seat on either the high or low crossbars. Still the chance of one leg sinking and causing a tilt....but hey.....that's what quick drying clothing is for. The first pic is me using my cane chair. The "negative" part of the cane chair is I sit low....making fly casting more difficult on longer cast. The second pic is the walker I'm going to "invest" in.

Well there you go Dave, repurposed walker, or Flyfisherman’s Caddy.. add a couple hooks to hang gear, and a cup holder. Go on the Sharks show and get Mr. Wonderful to pitch in a million for startup. Sell them on Ebay, etc.. On a serious note, this would be a great item for any stream wader, regardless of physical impairment.

It's like having 4 wading sticks at the same time!

It took me some time to (finally) find some reviews (honest reviews) for this walker. I found reviews on Amazon. It always raise's a red flag when, first I find pricing from $100 to $190 for the same product, and second, when there are no reviews listed for the product.
So, after reading the reviews I've decided to NOT get this product. The people who bought it state it's very wobbly (side to side) and much heavier than any standard aluminum. walker. In addition, when the thing broke, there was zero support from the seller or the manufacturer of the product. You know....call "this" number....but nobody ever answers the phone!!!
Welp......I'm glad I found out before wasting my time and $$$.
FWIW
Back to the drawing board!!

Dave, you surprise me being so easily discouraged by a flock of anonymous “Karens” on the web. Design looks good to me. For your purpose, maybe an additional brace or two might improve function? If I was a stream wader, I would try one. I like the idea.

If I was a stream wader, I would try one. I like the idea. I hear what you're saying. My initial concern was the strength of the upper part of the unit. The fact that it's built from plastic (polymer) gave me some concern as to the resilience and durability of it. If I'm going to need to add a brace or braces to give it the strength it needs, that's going to add more weight to it (and I don't need more weight). Plus, if I'm going to need to add a brace then I think I'd be better off using a standard aluminum walker that has a "pin" type adjustable legs. I have a good friend who specializes in welding aluminum so getting something done would not be difficult. I'm still in the "look" phase of this.....but this product has been chopped down considerable since reading the reviews that addressed my concerns about the plastic piece of this product. Maybe one made outta cast iron pieces?......I'll just bring a crane along to get into the water!!!

I see what you mean. Looks like legs are telescoping aluminum, but connector elbows and handles plastic.
Maybe you can fabricate something out of aluminum using same basic design?

Well, i took my "fishing device" out today for it's maiden try out. It worked great! it's legs are height adjustable so that was nice to adjust my "seat" for the given conditions. Also, it's light enough to not be over burdensome. One addition I think I need to do is install some type of retractable handle so I can use it in my right hand. A handle in the "middle" so it will be easy to do. But I have to have the handle either retractable, or able to "flip" out of the way so I can sit on it.

It could be a bar that goes from right 2 left handle, and flips over out of the way ? Just 2 cents worth of making your brain think another way.... lol
or front to back, and slides to the side out of way ?
Making it retractable in a 3/4" piece of wood may be a bit of a trick, but look forward to the design.

Maybe using PVC or even messing around with the leftover aluminum pipe of the crutches. I was thinking of perhaps something with a retractable motor driven powered by a 12V Marine battery.........but it's the weight factor....

If you get a high speed motor the wait shouldn't be that long..

I figured it out. I tied a piece of PVC to one side, and the other I tied a piece of rubber to hold the PVC. Now one-hand use is easy and when I get to where I want, I just flip the PVC aside and have a seat!!

No electric motor ?
I am disappointed in the design team for the lack of creativity and coming in way under budget with the project.
