Caught this fella last week in northern Potter on my grandparents pond. He was stocked in the pond when I was 18 (48 now) as a fingerling. A 20 minute battle with my 5 foot ultralight trout rod with 4 lb test mono. We stocked 3 in there that day and this is the first anyone has caught one. Used a trout hook and a half of night crawler. Couldn't lift him with one hand and had to use two. When he closed his hill plates on my fingers it was a pinch I never felt from a fish. It's the biggest , heaviest freshwater fish I have ever caught. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Nothing official but from handling a many of full carton of nails in my days my best guess falls between 40 & 50 lbs. The girth and shoulders on that guy were like nothing I ever seen on a freshwater fish. It was a pleasure to fight and meet the old fella.

Now.....being a true fisher-person....I'd estimate that weight at 400-500 pounds. He's a freshwater Moby Dick. Don't ya think??
