Just had a big discussion with someone about cleaning a 760. Is it okay or just wrong to run a copper cleaning brush backwards down the barrel of any rifle?

Do it all the time on my pumps and levers, never noticed any problems.

That's a good question I use a bore snake in my 760 then wet patches with bore tech on then dry patches from the muzzle.but I know guys that pull a brush both ways on barrel's

Cleaned my Marlin 30-30 that way.Just be careful. It held a 2 inch or less group at a hundred yards for 25 years and 16 deer didn't notice a problem.

You have to clean a 760 from the muzzle.

Bore snake from the breech or go through the muzzle with a cleaning rod. Same with a revolver Been running them through the muzzle for almost 50 years now.
Just got back from a walk @ Firetower out the mid state trail. had 3 guys ahead of me from the tracks in the snow...stayed with the mid state and the other two cut off the firebreak heading down to Ives run Just wondering if Whip was out and about today or maybe his son. Out near where I ran into his son this past summer. NY reg truck in parking lot. Saw two grouse that made me happy as I've not seen many at all this year.

Bore snakes work just OK. But if you have mild leading or copper the snake isn't gonna cut it. You will need a brass brush and some push\pull to get it out. Just purchase a muzzle guide from any on-line supplier. I use a brass one that I purchased from a muzzle loader builder supply on-line place.

And the other thing about bore snakes is you have to clean them or you're just dragging all the crud from previous cleanings right back through your barrel. I like a rod with patches and solvent.

Up north by New York? Cabin is about 130 yards from mid state trail just north of route 80 in union county...
