Man, that's a nice one! If only I hadn't picked up a 444 a couple weeks ago! My girl would murder me!

Is that a Williams 5D on the receiver? I really think you need to leave the “meat sight” on the rifle.

That would make a nice walk-about gun for deer.

Where are you located Dave? He's from a place that, at this point, has just received 4.5 inches of rain in the past 24 hrs (Plum/Murrysville). So he may be pre-occupied at the moment... building an ark.

So far, the only positive that's come from this hot\wet stuff is my tomatoes are producing like crazy!!! Glenn....I'm in that Plum\Murrysville area. About 20 minutes east of Pittsburgh. Yes. It's a Williams. It's not the old metal one though. It's aluminum. But I love peep sights on my rifles!!

I’m thinking about riding up that way sometime over the next couple weeks to see my Sister in Washington. If you still have the rifle, may e we can meet long enough to start a rumor.

That's fine Glenn. I'd come down near your parts as my Sister lives in Westminster MD., but she's coming up here in two weeks for a few days. But if you make it up and I still have it, we can arrange to meet.
Put a slip on recoil pad and it's a great rifle for "young-un's".

Got one just like it, peep sight and all, made in 1950. When I looked at it in the gun shop it had a side mounted scope on it, traded the scope and mount for the peep. Owner of shop indexed the peep with the mount holes and put blank screws in the remains holes, did a nice job. They are a nice walk around gun for brush hunting. Need to get some trigger work done on it before this season, and see if the old eyes are still good enough to bust a gallon jug of water at 100 yards, may have to make it 50 yards. Crippled a big buck with it a number of years back, my fault due to the trigger. Buck was 130 steps away, had to shoot off hand. and not being use to the heavy trigger, I pulled the shot. Buck wheeled up on it's back legs and when down backwards, and took off. I only found two quarter size spots of blood, one at the shot site and another on a trail about 50 yards away headed up hill, then the skiff of snow I had melted. Figured I nicked it low in one of the front legs. I spent the rest of that day and another looking for it, but there was never any signs. Kept checking the sky for any sighs of hawks or ravens in the area , but none showed up, and no other hunter in the area reported finding a dead one, so I think it made it.

The trigger on this one is (IMHO) pretty nice. I haven't measured it but I have a Lyman digital trigger gizmo. Maybe I'll get off my arse sometime today or tomorrow and check the poundage. I can tell you it's no where near the 8-lb trigger pull on my Marlin 1895 45-70. I do like that Marlin for it's looks and it's great accuracy. I sort of like the heavy pull for hunting.....as you gotta mean to shoot it when you pull that trigger!!

My breaks at 5 pounds, which isn't bad for a 94, but I'm use to and like a 3 pound, which all my other hunting rifles are set at. My dad's old Marlin Model 93, same caliber, also breaks at just under 5 pounds.

Fine looking M94, but I don't need another one. Still have my first deer rifle, a 1920s vintage M94SRC in 32 Special. Purchased used in 1964 for the princely sum of $40. It's worth a bit more these days.
Best wishes.

I saw one at the gun show in Saint Thomas today, Dave. The guy wanted $450 for it, but it wasn't nearly as nice as yours.

I'd say someone needs to pick this thing up.... And Muttley; is that show worth the price of admission?

Well, my price included two boxes of Hornady Leverlution ammo.....actually......I haven't looked but there may be 3 boxes. That ammo sells for $21\box when it's on sale. So....if you factor that in the rifle is $42 to $63 less than what I'm asking.
I thought it was more than fair, but I've got in on a few hunting sites and had only one query on it. Maybe when hunting season gets closer and someone is looking for a nice rifle. But I may end up just keeping it anyway.

Great caliber: guys just dont go for that caliber much: I have a marlin sport compact in 32 win special: went to those leverrevolution loads and had to remove the original sights cause it raised point of impact high enough I had no adjustment left: nothing a taller front sight couldnt fix!
