If some one has a PA. gun permit, and can carry a loaded gun at anytime, does it only apply to a pistol? Can you have a loaded shotgun or rifle in your vehicle?

It's my understanding that the permit allows only for loaded handgun carry. Loaded long gun carry is not permitted. But....that's my understanding.

Yes and no .https://firearmsindustryconsultinggroup.com/pa-rules-for-transportingcarrying-firearms/ A little confusing. You can carry a loaded shotgun if the barrel is less than 18 in. However it's illegal to own a shotgun with a barrel less than 18 in

Again I don’t know, but I think both are, Except for hunting, when I carry a loaded firearm it’s a concealed pistol or revolver , see no reason to have a loaded long gun in a vehicle, I no longer live or work on a farm.

I must correct myself. I forgot that 3 gun makers are now making pump shotguns with a 14 in barrel and pistol grip. Grice's has them for sale. I called them when I first saw them in the flyer and asked why they were legal to sell. I was told they were legal because they came from the factory like that, and we're not modified by the owner, which is illegal.
