We just got a Rossi R92 lever gun in 357 mag. I had it out at the range this morning and it is a whole lot of fun. Only took 38 Specials to get acquainted with it. I definitely plan to hunt with it with magnum loads. My 357 Blackhawk will be a good companion for it. Never hunted with two guns at the same time but I may start.

It's fun. I hunted with a .44 lever and .44 wheel gun. Got a little pricey!

Had that "dual gun" opportunity twice. A vintage Win. m92 IN 38-40 that I had for years and also a Uberti Colt SAA clone in that same cartridge. Same for a Rossi M92 clone in 44 mag and a M629 S&W. Only deer I ever killed, were with the 38-40 rifle and the M629 revolver. Maybe 30 years ago, the old coot that had a gun shop near me, had a used Rossi in 357. Didn't want much for it back the, should've bought it. IIRC, it had a very slick trigger. Back in the late 70s and early 80s, often had does wander up close by and stand there in buck seasons. When I started going to camp in '86 for doe, had a 4" M686 S&W by then. Often carried it, hoping to have a baldy mosey up and stand there within 20 yards. Never happened once.

I have an old Rossi 65 (Win 92 copy) in 45 Colt. You're right, they're fun guns.

I have an old Rossi 65 (Win 92 copy) in 45 Colt. You're right, they're fun guns. Muab This is a 92 copy also. But the model number is the R92. I never knew about the Model 65. I wonder if they're the same thing? And btw, I love your choice of the .45 Colt cartridge. I was going to go the 45 Colt route but first a like new 357 Blackhawk fell into my lap and now this. No worries though, I've killed two deer with the 357 cartridge in the past so I have confidence in it.

The trigger is very nice. Now the boy says he's getting one in 44 mag to go with his Super Redhawk.

I kinda regret selling the 44 mag rifle I had. Picked it up used, but like new. Fired it quite a few times with my 200gr XTP revolver loads and it was as accurate as it needed to be. Same for the Hornady factory loads with that same bullet, that I had.
24" octagon barrel, color case receiver and fore end cap, pretty nice wood. Mine was marked Legacy Arms, but it was pretty much like the older Puma branded M92 copies. That 44 mag had a pretty nice trigger. Had that little safety toggle on top of the bolt, but I never used it. Also had the same "half cock" feature on the hammer, like the Winchesters.
In a side by side comparison with my Winchester M92, there were quite a few differences.

For fun we would fill empty milk jugs with water. Makes for a big explosion of water when hit.

When my huntin' bud bought the 40 acre horse farm east of Harrisburg, we had up to a 300 yard rifle range down along the creek. Could shoot even farther, if ya missed the trees you had to get behind, to extend the range? Often used to top off 2L Coke jugs with water and blow 'em up down on the range. One of our amigos was a Coke delivery driver back then, would drop off cases of returned Coke products at the farm. Some were unsold/out of date, not fully filled, etc. Top 'em off at the freeze pruf hydrant at the barn, haul 'em down and set up rows of plastic jugs at the base of the target backstop. Roughly the same size as a standing woodchuck, so it made for some pretty good practice. Not hard to tell when ya hit one, even past 300 yards.

We bought a steel spinner you can plant in the ground. It's 3/8" steel but the 44 mag SRH will dent it with HSM 305 grain Bear loads.

Even more fun. Here it is next to the Winchester 1892 38-40 we just got.

Well I'm experiencing keyholing with roughly 20% of my rounds. So instead of the .401" hardcast I'm currently shooting I've ordered .403" soft cast. Yeah I should slug the bore but I don't have a Caliper anyway. Between the .002" greater diameter and the fact that with a full charge of FFg behind it the softcast bullet will obturate and should fill the bore whatever it is. If that doesn't straighten it out I will get the bore slugged but it should do it.
