Setting in the house waiting for the weather to get good enough to go play at the range ! I would bet I have at lest 4 different loading manuals down by heart ! [ Not saying I would load anything with out looking it up !] My equipment can not get any cleaner or shinny ? I have inventoried every piece of brass every bullet and every container of powder ! [ Man I have more stuff than I thought I did !] Got into my Black Power items to ! Boy o boy I have a lot of lead stashed plus bullet molds for rifles and flintlock ! If I clean my rifles anymore they may become smooth bores ? Looked out side and the sun was nice and bright but the temp was 21 degrees and 25 MPH winds ! Nope ! My old self will not go out to shoot in that ? It is like holding an icicle not a rifle ! What to do ? Well I am going to go bake some Chocolate chip cookies ? Beats watching the tv I guess?

I'm not waiting. I've been at the range all winter. Was just there yesterday pouring through 357 and 44 magnum and shooting a couple groups with the 22-250 not to mention plinking with the .22 Henry.

My dad was fond of that "one man, one gun" saying. Especially if he came up to deer camp with us and started counting rifles, shotguns and handguns scattered around the place. One time at camp, my uncle came over from his farm and did the same thing, checking here and there for firearms.
He'd usually ask when the rest of our party was showing up, because according to him, we had enough stuff to equip a small army. He'd be tickled to know I eventually wound up with his deer rifle. The ol' boy rolled a mess of deer with that thing in his lifetime.
I'd point out that we were over three hours from home, so brought enough stuff along for backup. He and dad never had more than one deer rifle and one shotgun at any given time.
As for willy's efforts, I used to get itchy in the winter if I had a new load to try out and the weather didn't give me much of an opportunity. Years ago when I was the range director at our club, thought about closing in an area at one end of the 100 yard range roof over the firing line, to get out of the weather.
Others ask about that now and then. Almost every time I'm out there plowing snow, someone shows up to shoot outdoors.

Denny, Know what you're saying, I always like the saying too. Sometimes I get to wishing I would of followed it. Lord knows I've have bought, traded, sold or stashed away more fire arms than anyone should ever have owned. Dad only ever had 3 that I know of, a Stevens double barreled 12 gage, a Marlin model 93 in 32 special, full octagon barrel, and a Winchester Model 68 single shot 22, that spent more time sitting in the corner of the milk house than anywhere. Still have all 3, killed a doe with the Marlin a couple of days after I was discharged from the Navy in 1967, last deer it killed. My one Uncle that lived on the farm with us had 4 long guns and two pistols. A Winchester 52, 22, a Stevens Fox 16 gage, a Husqvarna 30-06, a Sako 222, a S&W 22 pistol and a 38 in a shoulder holster that he carried in WW2. I usually take two to deer camp, a scoped Winchester 70 in 308, and either my Remington pump 308 or a pre 64 Winchester 94, 32 special , both have peep sights. My son has dad's old double barrel which he still hunts with some and shoots skeet/ trap with occasionally. Told me the last time he shot he broke 23 out of 25 with it. Love the old stuff with the worn bluing and scratched stocks, if only they could talk, most still shoot well.

I've always had a fondness for vintage firearms. As noted here long ago, my first deer rifle was a 1920s vintage M94SRC in 32 Special. Still have it, although I haven't hunted with it in years. At one time I had over a half dozen lever rifles.
Been thinning the stash for some time. Only guns my son is interested in getting when I croak, are my originals and his grandpap's. Not much I've added since he was a little guy, interest him.
Decided the other day to sell my M629 S&W 44 mag revolver. Bought it new many years ago, hunted with it some and killed two doe with it back in the early 90s. Haven't fired that thing in years.
6" full under lug barrel, target hammer, trigger and sights, Unfluted cylinder, which is fairly rare. Think it was made in 1988? Box, Uncle Mike's holster and an HKS speed loader. $950.00, OBO. Some on Gunbroker are listed higher than that and I saw one just like it for sale used in a shop two years ago, for over $900.

Denny, that's a fair price for your S&W. I already have two....a 629DX and a 29 Performance Center. I shoot both of 'em every year and they are fun to hunt with and just knock steel at the range.
