Talked my son in law into coming out of the woods bow hunting to shoot his and his sons rifles.
We get to the range and there is one fellow there shooting . We unload and get set up and I go over to him and ask "How is it going ?"
He tells me he was there the day before and his new Ruger 308 just won't shoot consistently ? He had taken it home and installed a new scope and came back to shot today. It still is not grouping !
I looked at his set up and I said nothing to him but I had seen a few things he was doing that I would not do ?
He has a new Lead Sled and the gun is held into it. That's ok . But he is shooting while standing beside it ? The scope is mounted with see thru mounts also! His check is nowhere near the rifle stock and his head is moving like a wobble doll ! He has a big shoot and see target up at 100 yards. No spotting scope so he has to walk down range after a few shots.
I look at his ammo and he is using Aguila 308 /150 grain loads .I don't buy ammo so these were new to me ?
He would shoot and we would stop till he walked down and came back! He would just shake his head?
He finally runs out of ammo and he says "Tomorrow is another day. I will go buy more shells and try it then !"
I Wanted so badly to say to him "Can I help you out here ?" but I learned a long time ago to keep my mouth shut unless asked.
I did say to him to buy Remington or Federal or Winchester ammo ?
I would not be afraid to bet that with all the shooting he has done he never cleaned that new rifle either?
On the brighter side he at lest didn't wait until the Saturday after Thanksgiving to start his sight in !!!!!!
