When I was young I got to use Grandpa's 99 Savage 300 one season. It had a Bushnell Scopechief on a flip over mount. Since I was a kid and liked to fiddle with stuff I sat on stand and repeatedly flipped the scope over and snapped it back into place. When I finally saw a deer the scope was no longer zeroed from all the flipping and I missed 5 times!

I think it was probably buck fever.
Did Bushnells ever hold a zero?

I had a Bushnell Banner 3 to 8 power on my 30-30.Paid 20 dollars for it in the '60s at a Willow Street gun shop.It had parallax.Between 3 and 8 power it would move 5 inches at 100 yds.So I just kept it on 3 power and finally started killing some deer.

I think it was probably buck fever. Did Bushnells ever hold a zero? It was a Doe and those Scopechiefs were dang good scopes. That's all I used on my 308 Norma Magnum. Here it is

I've owned at least 50 scopes. And that's probably conservative. Yeah I've had a few lemons from Bushnell but mostly they've been good scopes. I don't remember having any problems with Tasco. Now Simmons on the other hand, they've caused me a lot of grief.

Thanks! The gun sat in a gun shop for 2 yrs and I offered the guy $125.00 He sold it to me. I also paid $75.00 for the scope. I wouldn't take $1000.00 now! Taken a lot of game with it.

I loved the looks of the Parker's when I was looking to buy my first gun, but bought a 700 instead.

I have two 2.5-10x Bushnell Elite shortmag scopes. These aren't cheap scopes at about $300.Last winter I bought a new .223 and put one on it.My kid looked through it and declared that the scope sucked.I took it outside to adjust it and it still sucked.I took the other one out, looked through it and it was almost as bad.I decided to send the one back but didn't have a box so I went out and bought a Leupold vx1 for under $200.What a difference.

For the most part, I like Leupold scopes. However, I once had a Leupold handgun scope on one of my 44-mags. It was terrible!! Constant scope "blackout" unless I held it perfectly and it was no where near as bright as I thought it should be. I sold it. I put a .........$130 Simmons ProHunter pistol scope on it and have shot full bore 44-mag loads with it on for the last ten years. Scope never moves off sight.
One other disappointment was the Leupold "Rifleman" scope. Don't even take a slight bump against anything as the reticle will move from where it was to someplace you will never find!!!

The clearest , crispest scopes I've seen have been Nikons.
