FPS / SD and the other letters that says buy a Chronograph ?

I bought one and it has not been out of the packing ! I got it maybe 4 years ago or more !
Well i got to thinking "What did i need it for ?"
I load for accuracy ! [Trial and error !] 
I don't ever have  to shoot 200 yards or more ! [ Can't see that far in the Pa. woods ?]
I have never taken a deer that said that was a 2700 FPS bullet dude that killed me!
Or what was your SD of that load ?
I have 6 or more rifles i load for and from the bench the biggest grouping is 2 inches or less at 100 yards .I know the bench is not shooting at a deer but the confidence  in the  gun is there !
I would think that at my age i should be thinking for myself ?

I used to have a chrono. It was interesting because it shed light on my reloads and on factory ammo. Had the darn thing not quit working I'd still be using it.

I have a chronograph and use it during load development. Standard deviation is a good thing to know if your shooting beyond 300 yards as a large velocity difference (say 75fps) will effect POI. I like to know my handload's velocity to know what the bullet drop is between 100yds and 300yds. When hunting with a 38-55 it can make a difference between a clean miss, and a clean kill.
