CDC says do not eat CWD infected deer. How is the average feller supposed to know? :/ And since the only way to find out whether or not the deer you shoot is infected is to send the brain to a lab qualified to do the testing, and since CWD is now in wild deer populations, what is the average fella like ussens gonna do?

I don't think anyone would knowing eat any animal that was infected with any disease. However it is very unlikely that if you did, there would be any negative consequences especially if the food is properly cooked. No known case of a human contracting CWD has ever been recorded and it has been around for a long time out west. The way I look at it, you are probably just as likely to get something from food you buy as you are from a wild animal.
I will say that the new CWD rules kinda sucks for me. If I kill a deer late on Sunday in Ohio instead of throwing it in the truck and bringing it home, I know will have to quarter and cut the loins out of it.

Wardens were set up on the state line looking for hunter killed deer coming into the state. The wardens looked like they were going in for surgery, confiscated the deer, put them in biohazard bags, fined the hunters, and sent the deer off for testing. At the end of the show, they said all of the deer were negative.

I think this rule will have many out of state hunters taking the prime cuts and leaving a lot of meat go to waste.

The PGC just tested how many sharpshooter kills? None were positive but it didn't mean they didn't have it. LOL
What good does it do for a hunter to test if that is the case?

If it tests positive, then it's positive.
BTW, the folks at USP have contacted US Congressman GT Thompson to complain about the new CWD rules in PA.

What I don't understand is how hard is it for the PGC to know which county the deer was harvested in. You have to fill it out on the tag and you must call in and report the kill prior to taking across the state line at least in Ohio's case. Don't see how this will make it any easier? You weren't permitted before to bring any deer in from any county that had a positive CWD.

Some choose to think they already know all there is to know about CWD. Others are still learning there is much yet to learn and apply.

In the words of the immortal Sargeant Shultz, "I know nothing. NOTH-ING!Once during an extended, aggravating tenant eviction hassle, I was at the District Judge's office talking to the constable and his brother who was there, local police chief. Constable asked me if a county judge had signed off on the eviction appeal yet. Said nope and if it didn't soon happen, the tenants were goin' off the I-81 bridge in the middle of the night. He and his bro kept making gestures, turned around and the District Judge was right behind me, in his robes. So the police chief says I'd better hire a detective agency to make sure nothing happened to the tenants, as there were now three unimpeachable witnesses, if they disappeared. Judge heads off down the hall doing a perfect Sgt. Schultz impression - I heard nothing, I saw nothing, I know nothing.

Some choose to think they already know all there is to know about CWD. Others are still learning there is much yet to learn and apply. For sure. With that said, oversight is never a bad thing in today's world. The PGC should know that folks won't sit on the hands and blindly let the PGC do whatever they wish without holding them accountable for their decisions. Their attempt to justify the deer cull was pathetic. They would have been much better off to stick to the facts instead of spinning the results. "Deer were successfully culled from two target areas and thankfully, there were no positive results. The PGC will continue to monitor, test, and potentially remove more deer from these areas if deemed necessary." That wasn't so hard was it?
