I am going to go to my sons in 2-E for a few days to hunt . I was going to head down today but there is a Winter weather advisory put out ? It says frozen rain and snow . I travel on I-80 and I-99 and trucks and people in cars don't seem to care what the roads are like and go as fast as they can and that scares me. So i will wait until tomorrow morning to head over. My son took vacation time to take me hunting. I hope the snow hangs on there for a couple days so i can see in the woods.

"Woke up......got outta bed.....dragged a comb across my head"....Bealte's song lyrics.
I got up at 5:30 thinking some new snow was on the way. Had a quick coffee....went to my garage....got all my stuff on.....opened the door to load the cart and .........Man.....freezing rain!!! The driveway was getting slippery. And me.....with a quick weather look the guy said "Possibly starting with freezing rain..."
Ain't possible......it IS!!
I'll wait 'n see. No deer is worth sliding up to my hunting spot. Maybe it will turn to snow. From deep freeze to cold rain.......UG!!

19 here at the moment. Checked the news blog I look at everyday and it's supposedly above freezing in Wellsboro. Forecast here is for sleet/snow mix starting mid morning and continuing thru late afternoon. Figures, our club's block shoots start up again tonight, thru April. At least I remembered to refill the hopper on the cinder spreader the other day, before putting the tractor back in the garage.

Good luck Willy!! Not a fan of the warmer weather that is coming though for this week. Looks like rain next Saturday as well to wrap up the general flintlock season.

Actually, 2A wraps up this Saturday, but Grumpy has some land we can hunt in 2B with a flinter for another 2 weeks after.

Think snow cover will remain in most areas through end of season. Be out tomorrow in York County down near the Susky River and Sullivan last 2 days of season. Good luck to all final flinter season week!

Good luck to all final flinter season week! Not hear loggy. With 40,s and possibly 50,s by midweek by the weekend the snow will be a distant memory.Especially when rain is added to the mix.We don,t have all that much snow.

What a difference! Went out the door yesterday AM for my walk -11 and windy... cut the walk shorter than I would have normally done. This morning went for my usual mile+ at 20 when I left. calling for 33 todays high. felt like spring!

Think snow cover will remain in most areas through end of season. Not round here. Actually, this past weekend it was melted off a lot of south facing slopes. With the warmer weather this week, I don't think we will have any left by later this week.

Guess depends on locale. York County....currently 17 degrees with ground frozen over 6" deep. Would take 50 plus temps for several days to totally thaw. I suspect northern tiers even much longer.

I did take a run out to give the flinter a "run." The 32 degree temps along with a steady....kind of sideways snow was just a formula for "slop." Snow hit's the barrel and turns immediately to water....and lots of it. Well, I did get some info from the trip. I know where the deer are running!!

Willy, The powdery snow of yesterday has been covered by about 4-5 inches of wet slushy snow today in my part of 2E. The roads were a sloppy mess around 5 pm. Travel advisory 'til tomorrow 7am. What part of 2E are you going to be hunting?
