Willy, I read your post on that other board we can not mention. You lamented about staying home today because you don't want to hunt alone. I am staying home for another reason. I have a lot of honey do chores to catch up on so I can leave tomorrow to go to camp. Grass to mow (when it is dry), wood to stack on the porch so my wife can stay warm, and a vehicle to wash. If I had to go by myself, I would, but my buddy Larry is also going tomorrow. Both of us are around 75 years old. Wednesday, Dave (every camp needs one) will be coming out. Thursday, my son in law will arrive. Camp will be pretty full for a few days with both deer and bear being legal game this coming week. Dave was out this past week and saw bucks every day. As to rifles, I checked out my .257 and my .30-06 before the South Carolina trip. I should probably shoot a round out of my .300 Weatherby, just for old times sake. My English setter Mugs hurt a leg while bird hunting on Wednesday. He had a bad limp on Thursday and Friday, but he looks a bit better today. Like me, he is getting a bit long in the tooth. Mugs is 10 years old, and I wonder how much longer he will be able to go bird hunting. It will be a sad day when that ends. Hang in there, fellow old timer. the Mutt said that

If I don't get one in archery season, I will be out of town for the 1st day of rifle. Yeah....it's a wife "trip thing" and I'm ok with it as it's the only time she ever planned a trip during the first day of rifle.
OTOH.....I do have to pull out my Win .308 and make sure it's shooting straight.

Shot my 260 the other week. Two inches high. That will be ok. Creedmoor will be dead on

For decades all my deer killing has been with a .243.All my deer missing has been with a .50 cal flintlock.

Sold all my .35 rifles now down to a 25/06 I usually shoot once think that the hit dead center was a fluke and shoot it again with the same result
