One thing is for certain, and that is this. The only truly unconditional love a guy is likely to get will come from a dog. Another thing is that when talking to a dog, the dog seems to perceive every word as profound, and will never think his owner to be stupid. A third thing is that if your dog is fat, you probably aren't getting enough exercise. smileys-whistling-823718

Dogs are life, without dogs in your life then it's just passing time....

Some people apparently prefer cats? I've never figured out why, but they do. I don't hate cats and have actually had a few doze off on my lap. My only problem with cats, is that they ain't dogs.

So far the dog is pretty cool. She's 100% pure adrenaline outside and seems to have a one track mind but she's pretty laid back inside. She's pretty aggressive and overcomes fear way faster than I expected. She doesn't like to be left alone, needs constant attention and you really can't take your eyes off her.She follows my son everywhere he goes, which was exactly what I was hoping for.I'm far from a bird dog expert but she seems to have a pretty good prey drive. She's starting to flash point at different things and literally comes unglued when she sees a chicken. We haven't had her off of a check cord much but when she's finally let loose,I think the chickens are in trouble.I'd like to break her from attacking the chickens but I don't want to screw up her drive to find birds.I have little doubt that she'll hunt and find birds.I just think the biggest challenge will be getting her to hold a point. The kids are obsessed with her at this point and the wife seems pretty tolerant so it seems to have been a good decision.

His wife didn't cave. She just obtained leverage for her padded Christmas list.

Interestingly, part of the deal was her getting a new bedroom suit.

Interestingly, part of the deal was her getting a new bedroom suit. Wives never cave. They collect "you owe me" tokens. Interest on those tokens is the higher than what the mafia imposes.

Interestingly, part of the deal was her getting a new bedroom suit. Play your cards right with the new pup...........and you will be allowed to play on the new furniture................

The pup is pretty cool. She's a nice lap dog in the house but pretty lively outside. She's starting to point at everything and is pure hell on the chickens we have running loose. We've been bringing dead pheasants home and letting her find them in the brush. She has no problems finding them but isn't real enthused about giving them back. We've been shooting 209 primers over her head and she shows no fear.I think by Christmas, she'll be ready to tag along and chase some live birds around without expecting too much from her.

Thought that was a "tap out" shirt your son was wearing at first glance........... Nice pics, and I will bet that dog becomes YOUR hunting partner when your son is away to college.

The hound from hell is 12 weeks old today. She's starting to listen pretty good, knows a few tricks and wrapped mom around her little paw. We've been spending a lot of time outside on a check cord finding dead birds, chasing wings around on a fishing pole and wandering around the woods. She really hunts down chickens, points at them and then charges when they take off. We've been working with her to hold a point better but she looks promising. At 9 weeks we started shooting a co2 pistol over her head and then moved to 209 primers out of an inline and then a 22.We've taken her squirrel hunting and Jordan's been shooting over her head with a 22 and we let her find them.Getting them off her is another work in progress.By the time we started shooting a 20 ga near her she was fine. You can shoot right over her head and she goes in the direction of the shot. There's a youth only area not far from the house that's loaded with birds. It may be a little early but since she's not gun shy,we're gonna put her over some live birds this weekend.I'm not expecting anything other than letting the dog have fun but it would be cool to see my son shooting a bird or two over his new buddy.I have zero doubt that he'll be doing just that by the time the late season rolls around. It's amazing the natural hunting ability these dogs are born with.
