Our 2017 Northern Potter spring gobbler season

It started off with the youth season with my wife and I taking our 10 yr old daughter and my brother taking his 10 yr old son out.
We managed to call in 4 longbeards for Kendall and she got so excited that she was hyperventilating and on the verge of puking and wiffed on a 30 yd shot at 830 am after working the birds for a hour.
My brother called in 3 longbeards for Gaige at 10:30 and Gaige killed his first longbeard. Stats were 19 lbs. 91/4" beard and 1" spurs.
The first day my wife passed on 4 jakes and had 2 fellas come into her setup at 10 am. and bugger a longbeard she was working. We didnt hunt again till I took vacation on may 17 - 20. They gobbled great and my brother and I logged a lot of walking miles and word a good many birds. On one group of 4 longbeards we walked 7.6 miles trying to get in and in front of them in some steep mountain terrain. Got them to within 6 steps and couldnt get a shot because they some how got behind us. The storms came in the evening of the 18th and washed all the gobbles out of the county. But on the 19th my brother and I managed to work a pair of silent longbeards for 3 hrs that were bugging in a hay field and we got our first ever double and our first time shooting birds over decoys.
Brother on the left was 16.2 lbs, 91/2" beard and 11/8" spurs.
Mine on the right was 18.2 lbs. 111/2" beard and 13/8" spurs.
Didnt hunt again until may 26th and I ended my season at 530 am. On a slammer of a mountain bird at 35 yds. The stats on that bird were 19.5 lbs, 11" beard and two needle sharp 1 1/2" spurs. A perfect end to a hard season
