We have a mom with 3 cubs and one with 2 cubs. They do seem to appreciate our hard work, the buggers.

They need little bulls eyes painted on them. Actually, in my mind, they already are.

Nice shot of bears! How high'd you have your cam in the tree? It wasn't very high, maybe 4 ft.

Speaking of Bears. Since my trailer bear incident, I haven't had any problems with visitors. Last Friday morning though our caretaker out at the club saw a small cub by our gate. The farmer that lives on the backside of our property says there is a large sow with 2 cubs running around. Seems to me that Bear numbers are on the rise in Washington County. I might actually try and take a bear this season in Burgettstown.

How much do you angle the camera down when you put it that high?

Another good one. Ahh, you just took this a couple weeks ago. That in PA? I'm going for a bear shot at my little dry cabin on the creek here in the Rocky Mts. Couple years ago, after a cookout, I left some hotdogs and a six pack of beer in the cooler, on the front deck. Two days later went to get all that stuff and a bear had gotten it. He'd eaten the hotdogs, and punctured with his teeth ALL the beers. Will see if I can get his photo soon. Go figure, bears like KeyStone Light. Nice shot of bears! How high'd you have your cam in the tree? Here is a shot you might like. Trail cam at 6 ft or mebbe a bit higher. A

How much do you angle the camera down when you put it that high? You just eyeball it not hard. I think it also has an "aim" feature on the camera that trips the light to see where you are actually detecting movement. Never used it

Nice cam pictures Dutch! I know many, including some of my farmer neighbors.....and in laws....are crying about so many bears and I sympathize with them. They have legitimate concerns when their income is affected......same as when there were too many deer, coons or any other crop predator. As a non-farmer though, I enjoy their presence.
Years ago when I was boarding in Forksville the family I lived with had never seen a single bear in spite of being born and raised in Sullivan County! At that time they were in their mid to late 60's. That was the time period when bear season was closed due to low numbers!
So, I now can appreciate seeing a healthy population of bears. I got my license this year but I've had the opportunity before and just didn't want to pull the trigger.

When I was on the 3A CAC for deer in 2009, the one farmer from Potter, who had been to PGC meetings complaining of too many deer, told me deer were no longer a problem for him and that he no longer allowed does to be shot on his farm.
He did ask me to tell anyone I knew in the PGC that we needed a longer bear season as his sunflower fields were being wiped out due to bears.
The PGC finally put a concurrent bear/deer season on for the first week of deer season, and we are getting more bears killed, but I see no evidence of fewer bears on my cameras.
If you would see the bear crap under apple trees up there, you'd be amazed.
Until they deal with the bear numbers in 2G, I don't think you'll have much relief in surrounding units.
For some reason, the PGC will over protect bears and waste untold dollars on them, but deer are, or were, a different matter.

I apologize for being lazy, I just view my pics and take pics w/ my phone off of that so my pics suck to show. One of these days I’ll put the cards in the computer and post better pics. Here is a decent bear I captured, and Dutch thought id just use your bear thread hope that’s okay : )
