I just read it was open today too, just for today. Probably to relieve the congestion on Hopeland. I read it was pretty bad. Me, I went looking for short eared owls. Maybe a dozen of us there.

Heard about the traffic and crowds. This morning even the snow geese had enough.....they're flying right over our house ---- but at about 2,000 feet.

Today I finally drove up to Cabelas at Hamburg to collect some free pistol ammo.Near Bethel someone had a big spread of snowgoose decoys in a field.Ground decoys and flyers on stakes.Didn't see any geese.

The Tour Road was open again today. Not as many people and not as many geese.

The Tour Road was open again today. Not as many people and not as many geese. It was open yesterday. The PGC hosted some legislators there yesterday. Like it's going to change their minds about a license increase? It was nothing more than a government paid field trip for them, so they could get a per diem.

Was acting like the nosy Mennonite neighbor I am and drove around to see all the storm damage this morning. HA Decided to take a cruise thru MC cause the Tour Road is open. As we came past the Visitors Center we saw these Amish Boys walking thru the Propagation Area, nobody is ever allowed in there. The girls were all bundled up and taking the shortest route back to their buggies. They were worse than the Camera People! flic.kr/p/RbBEjCThe Faces of Trespassers

Morons. The one even smiled when approached by someone probably telling him he was wrong to be there. Jerks

Grew up with Amish kids and others.A closed society and limited interactions with others can affect awareness. There is the teaching that we are in the world but not of the world.A separatist attitude some times causes conflict with the law.Maybe I'm going too deep here.

Migration Update (2/27/2017): I took a look at the lake this morning. Numbers are starting to change, there were around, 30 to 40,000 snow geese and it seems that swan numbers have increased to around 2,500. Resident Canadas are beginning to pair off and locate suitable nest sites. Numbers will continue to fluctuate based on weather, the next south winds predicted for Tuesday into Wednesday will possibly move some birds along.
These updates are submitted by Lauren Fenstermacher, Middle Creek manager.

Spring migration is in full swing in the geneva swamp, there are thousands of ducks stopping by on their way north.
