Ok, here's the scene:
There's a snowy owl hanging out locally and my 42 power zoom Nikon just lacks a bit of allowing me to get really good pictures.
So, I do some research and discovered that Nikon has taken the same basic camera, added some new gadgetry for geeks, (not me), but the main thing is they increased the optical zoom to 60X! That gives me 43% more range.
To top it off my wife wanted me to get a new camera for Christmas and I turned it down and she got me 2 trail cameras instead.......so now she insist, "get that camera."
I did and it arrived yesterday......oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.
The delivery truck wasn't even down the lane before I had that baby unboxed and was charging the battery.
Fired her up and started taking pictures. No problem because all the functions are the same as my old camera.
On about the 11th or 12th picture....the viewing screen goes blank! Must be I hit the power switch..but I jiggle the camera and boom, the power is back on.
Ok, that's a slight blip but then I have her zoomed out to max optical-zoom range and suddenly things start getting blurry and the zoom just keeps on going. Huh? The zoom bottomed out at max digital zoom. Not good.
Got her back where it belongs and ---- the viewing screen goes blank again. The same thing repeated over and again, and this morning nothing improved over night while it sat on the counter. (Kate suggested I was getting irrational and to "just leave it for today and look at it again in the morning")
I almost did get irrational this morning after repeat performance, "non" performance.
Geez I hate when this happens. Certainly the seller will honor the return but now I'm nervous about a replacement....not sure I trust the brand.
Oh well, I'm waiting for them to respond to my email.....we'll see what happens......I really need that extra zoom.
