Yesterday I mentioned that I have a bunch of safe queens that I do not use much, if at all. Here is a list of them. If anyone has interest in one of them, drop me a pm. George

Some good stuff there mutt. Good luck with the potential "windfall". Began to clean out some of my stash months ago, for several reasons. Almost anything that was not deemed to be of interest to my son, made the expendable list. Firearms I had not been using, some for the past ten or fifteen years and that he wasn't really interested in inheriting upon my demise, went to auction. At my age, no longer made much sense to hang onto much of what I had acquired over the past 50+ years, if my son wasn't really interested in the entire stash? And I can always use some extra $$. Told him he'd have been farther ahead to tell me he wanted 'em all and cash 'em in someday. He said it's your stuff, do what ya wanta do with it. I've always been a certified gun loonie, so many were acquired because I thought I needed to have it; Figured to use it for some future project; Or the price was right and WTH, might's well have "one of those", too? Here's a tip for those who hadn't already figured it out: Most quality firearms bought years ago and still in very good condition, may well be worth two or three times what ya had paid for them. Sometimes even more, if they're now deemed to be collectible and rare? I would recommend Redding's Auction near Gettysburg, unless you're in a rush to cash them in? They sell so many firearms at Redding's, that anything taken in now will likely not be sold for at least two months. Yep, their backlog is now just that lengthy. But they draw large crowds from a multi-state area and bring good prices. Sent some along with a trusted friend that regularly attends local gun shows, along with unwanted dies, ammo and some other doodads. One rifle went quickly via that route, took several months to sell a few others. Online auction asking prices generally give some guidance on how much to ask, but local interest trumps what most think their guns are worth on those sites. Example: Had a very nice M788 Rem. in 243, that I wanted at least $450 for and it went to many local shows before it finally sold for $425. Had to put a new $50 3x9x40 scope on it, to finally get it sold. Wasn't gonna let the $270 Bushnell target scope on it, so un-scoped, it fetched little interest. I've seen the same model/caliber rifles listed for over $500 un-scoped, online.

Non in any rush to sell any of them, Denny. I am aware of Reddings, and unlike some of our local auction houses, they do not charge both buyer and seller a commission. I quit going to the local auctions when they started that crap. I put these here just in case one of our posters saw something he just had to have. I don't need the windfall at the present time, and will negotiate price. Most 'asking' prices online, such as on GunBroker.com, are "merry Christmas" prices. I haven't lost interest in guns. In fact I just bought a new Ruger 10/22.

The only things I think I'll be looking for this year are a .17 HMR and a .35 Remington. Other than that maybe a sub gauge shotgun. Then I'm happy. Since my boy has my .30-06 now I really want a 35 Rem for Bear.

Your Ma may have been right some years ago when she suggested you may be a little too old to be listening to that stuff ? She'd definitely be right today.

Nah. I like almost anything but %#$& rap and that screechy Beyonce kinda stuff.
When I'm at camp, switch between "album rock" and country music. Used to be an FM station in Hornell, NY that mixed old country and top 40 stuff. Had that on most of the time. Changed hands last year, plays nothing but top 40 country now.
After hearing the same song for the third or fourth time, I change the channel to the album rock channel.
In the truck, it's usually Willy's Roadhouse, older country,or bluegrass. Have had satellite radio in my last three trucks, ain't never gonna give it up.

Died in the Hospital there.

Twenty five minute drive north of my camp. That's where most of my local kin goes to shop. There, or Bath.

I really am tempted on the .300 Savage Mutt. Always wanted one of them. I remember the day when one of my distant western PA outlaw relatives walked up to a group of us standing on the side of one hill looking across to the other hillside at three deer. There was snow on the ground so they were pretty easy to see. Except for one big deer that kept it's head behind some brush. We were wondering if that deer was a buck and was waiting for it to move. When the outlaw relative walked up and asked what we were doing and we told him waiting for the deer to move so we could see what it was, he said: I'll show you how to make it move to which he put the open sighted Model 99 in .300 to his shoulder and fired! At the shot the deer ran out and made a circle and fell over dead. We could see the blood in the snow at at probably 400 plus yards! One Greene county hillside to the other.. Yikes! A few of us looked at each other trying to figure out which way to run when we now saw the deer was as bald headed as I am. But, instead of running we just quietly vamoosed in different directions. The outlaw came back later that night and retrieved the doe.. About 1960 time frame.. Anyhow, always did love the lines on the Model 99.

Got close a few times on a M99 Savage, never quite pulled it off. Back in the 80s a buddy that was a lefty, decided to go that route. He picked up two of them that were in like new condition. Know one was a 250, forget what the other one was? Before long he decided to get rid of them (his usual move with guns) and I gave some serious thought to buying the 250. Waited too long.

That, plus he is one of those wealthy small business owners, Mike. I 'spect this won't even dent his bankroll. Stroupy chose wisely for a friend and sugar daddy.
