PGC release today, sez they're closing one of the ditch chicken farms in Lycoming County and the one in the SW, IIRC?
More cutbacks due to no license increase in the past legislative session, although the increase bill passed almost unanimously in the Senate.

They have their hands full with bigger issues.
BTW, the shortfall is no surprise. They used smoke and mirrors to "balance" the last budget.
Seriously, these people need to be forced to do the right thing, almost at the point of a gun.

If the PGC had the ability to put a $25 ditch chicken stamp out there all along, then the sole blame for closing two farms and the loss of jobs, and ditch chickens, lays squarely at their feet.

I agree with the sentiment that certain members of the House are working to abolish PGC as a stand alone agency, which is why they've continued to block the license increase for the past 17 years.
Support for a pheasant stamp has never been all that strong over the years, from what I gather? The only hunters that have supported it that I know of, don't hunt them.
Personally, I've always thought it was the way to go, but not at $25. If they've been pouring money down that rat hole all these years, a $10 stamp twenty years ago, would've gone a long way towards sharing the cost of the program.

Yep, saw that. They borrowed money this year to cover the deficit.
Came back, patted themselves on the back for a balanced budget.
Can got kicked down the road... again.

Don't believe they borrowed money Dutch. They just inserted uncertain revenue streams into the budget that didn't pan out. One glaring example is the 24/7/365 liquor sales licenses for casinos that didn't, to the best of my knowledge, generate a single cent.

Yes, they borrowed money from a fund and it was to be paid back in 5 years. Yeah right.
Shocked me when it was reported on WGAL

How did we go from haggling over pheasant farm closings due to PGC's budget woes, to grousing about the Commonwealth's budget woes???

Actually I wanted to delete this thread as I had started one earlier about this exact issue.
Didn't want to hurt Denny's feelings tho.
