Ok. My son bought an inline tonight. I have a flintlock so I know that cleaning is important. The question I have is say we are at camp for the weekend. He shoots the inline on Saturday morning, misses and reloads. Do we need to clean it Saturday night or can we hunt with it Sunday and then clean Sunday night? With the flintlock, I was never worried since at home I would just shoot out and clean that night. Little easier to do at home than it is at camp. How long can you let it go before cleaning. He bought a CVA Wolf with a SS barrel.

What kind of powder is he using? If BP I would say clean it that night. If BlackHorn 209, you can let it go for a few days.

Aren,t those known for developing the crud ring?I would break it down and clean it at the end of the day.Don,t think because you got a SS barrel that gives you a free pass.

Thanks. Figured cleaning that day would be the best, but wasn't sure if you could go longer or not.

T7 leaves a tuff crud ring just north of the breech plug if you shoot a lot, has poor shelf life etc. Go to BH209 and you will never back. A lite cleaning at camp would be sufficient followed-up with a through cleaning when you get home. I shot both T7 pills & loose and never had a problem doing this.

Next year I will probably go to BH209. I want to do some more tinkering with the combo. Right now shooting Powerbelts with 100 GR of the T7 pills. He is shooting a CVA Wolf. The groups aren't bad but I think we can do better.

Cspot...100 grains of T7 should be close to where you wanna be per my experience. In loose I used 110 grains & with the T7 Mag pill I used 2 pills which equaled 120 grains. Not sure if they still offer the magnum pills?
When I first got into inlines I owned several CVA's(Optima Pro, Firebolt plunger type etc). I found that in the CVA 1-28 Bergara barrels the 348 grain Powerbelts grouped far better than the 245 or 295 grainers. The 348 is a longer bullet & stabilized much better in a fast twister. I used the 348 Aerotips which sometimes had to order from Cabelas etc since local stores seemed to only carry the 245 or 295.

My bullet is the same Hornady 325 gummy tip that is loaded for a 45-70. I put that bullet in a sabot (one made for it) and seat it over 100gr. of BH-209. Wicket accurate at 100 yards from my Encore.
