In Juniata one spring while hiking I had a grouse do the broken wing act on a trail.I stood still and looked for the chicks. It took awhile till I spotted them. She kept coming back to me and dragging her wing down the trail.I followed her and then she relaxed and went back to them.

I had stopped walking when I saw the grouse, and just happened to look down at my feet and right in front of my boot, maybe 6 inches, were the little chicks. Pretty cool.

Look how perfectly camoflaged they are. They were right at my boot tip. Had I stepped even six inches more, they would have been squashed.
